Little Axver will overcome all threats with the power of intellect!

i.e. he will be the smart kid who rigs all kinds of traps in the path of sono_of_elevated_u2_fan.

ouch :uhoh:

to tell you the truth, I don't think son_of_elevated_u2_fan will be smart enough to evade these traps...

this could spell disaster...

I can hear Little Axver gloating already.

The worst part is that I don't even have a witty comeback.

how can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat :tsk:

just thought I'd throw a musical line in there thru all the "lil" stuff and see if the thread could get back on track  though it is entertaining :corn:

What this thread needs more of is Pet Sounds.

Seriously, for a ten year old? No way, man. This isn't your doped up dorm buddy asking to borrow a record, after all.

I think I must have been a doped up dorm buddy of a ten year old... cause I liked what I knew of the Velvets back then.

Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
Beatles - Revolver
Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street
The Clash - London Calling
U2 - Achtung Baby

I was thinking more mainstream as an introduction to rock and why not? There's always the less popular gems on big albums that people tend to forget or ignore.

Doors - LA Woman. Songs, LA Woman, epic Riders On The Storm, the funky Changeling, and the fantastic keyboards on Hyacinth House. Their last album and quite the finish to a fantastic music career.

Beatles - Abbey Road. Needs no explaining.

U2 - Joshua Tree.

AC/DC - Back In Black. It's not Bon Scott but this album is their biggest and with the most hits. The famous and high school favourite, 'You Shook Me All Night Long', and the title track rock.

Oasis - (What's The Story) Morning Glory?. Third best selling album in UK history behind Queen's Greatest and Sgt Pepper's. It's chock full of hits and a must to listen too.

Led Zeppelin - II
U2 - How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb
Bob Dylan - Greatest Hits
Crowded House - Woodface
Rolling Stones - Big Hits (High Tide & Green Grass)

I figure they've already heard the Beatles by 10 years

The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967)
The Rolling Stones - Exile on Main Street (1972)
Van Halen - Van Halen (1978)
Elvis Costello & The Attractions - Blood & Chocolate (1986)
Muse - Origin of Symmetry (2001)

my dad's played the Velvet Underground for me ever since I was a kid...in fact when he was still married to my mom (they divorced when I was two) they recorded a cover of Stephanie Says, and it was on a tape of recordings they did that he'd play for me, so I've always been familiar with VU, though admittingly i didn't really start digging them til about middle school.

as for the original premise of this thread...

The Beatles - The White Album
The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Axis: Bold as Love
Television - Marquee Moon
U2 - Pop (hey, it got me into rock music when I was 9)
Tool - Lateralus

The Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Queen - A Night at the Opera
U2 - The Joshua Tree
Nirvana - Nevermind
Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced?
