I noticed on NSW's list, there are several old shows. When I count my favourite shows, I rarely include old(er) shows. Am I disloyal, just waiting for the next big thing? Do tv shows not stand the test of time?

FoTC - I liked it, but didn't love it or anything. I guess I found it amusing, just not uproariously funny.

What I do find uproariously funny is Curb Your Enthusiasm. Larry David is such a jerk. Even better than Seinfeld IMO, which didn't stand the test of time for me, to bring this post back around full circle. Can't wait for the next season.

Veep, I'm with you on FotC. And, in what seems to be an unpopular opinion, I don't find the songs that funny. I liked the actual show bits more than the songs.

Okay, let's see how far I can take this: I also don't worship at the altar of Arrested Development (GASP!). Unlike most who either want to marry it and have its babies, or hate it, I'm just middling about it. I like it, but don't think it's OMG, THE BEST THING EVA.

Still with me, Cori?

I liked Curb a lot, but they totally lost me two seasons ago, when the show crossed from painfully funny to just awkward.

I have a mix of old and new. Lost is in there, so is AD, so is Deadwood, so is The Wire, so is Galactica....all are of recent vintage. I'd just be lying if I pretended that I've found better cop shows than Hill Street, outside of The Wire, etc.

Fuck, forgot about the Larry Sanders show.

Edit - I'm with you on Flight, too, but I said that already. Liked it, did not love it.

The Prisoner, yes. Admittedly, it is NOT everyone's cup of tea, but I fucking love it.

And, SHAME on me for not mentioning the BBC Office, good lord, just amazing stuff.

I liked Flight of the Conchords, but need at least one more strong season to canonize it or anything.

Arrested Development..... I just bought a Gobias Industries t-shirt, it arrives next week.

Okay, cool. Does anyone else here watch It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia? I remember starting a thread on it a while back that failed pretty quickly. It's like Seinfeld/Curb, but in Philly, and every character is an asshole except for Charlie, who may be functionally retarded. It's one of those shows that goes for that shock factor because it's on cable, but that's part of the fun of it. It's been a fairly big influence on my comedy in the past year or so. I could see a lot of people here liking it.

I outgrew this amazing Buster shirt about 6 months ago. It was him waving with the hook and said "Hey Brother." The only thing that could remedy that is some Dr. Funke's 100% All-Natural, Good-Time Family Band Solution wear.

Veepz, it's totally cool if you're not in love with AD. I dislike massive hype for shows, too, but this is just one of those things that's right up my alley in more ways than one. I used to watch Curb as well, but like NSW said, it crossed that line where it wasn't funny to me anywhere. The episode where Larry's restaurant opens and he hires the chef with Tourette's is my absolute favorite. The barrage of swearing at the end had me in tears.

Ohhhhhhhhhh, you lost me. I want to marry it and have 10,000 of its babies.

Yep, I started the thread with the AbFab comment.

I really like Extras. The finale was so depressing, yet fitting for the character. I loved the ending, though.

The beginning of the end for Curb with me was the episode with the Japanese guy...forget the exact set up now, but, a character committed suicide, if memory serves, due to some sort of accidental dishonor brought upon him by Larry. I just did not find that funny, and it got worse from there, and I very sadly had to bail, as I loved that show from day one, dating back to the one-off special HBO aired out of nowhere, where Larry tries to do stand up again in order to get an HBO special.

Son of a bitch, I'd have Extras in my honorable mentions. Fuck me and my senility.

I forgot about that, too.

"And then all of her clothes fall off. Then she's scrambled to put them back on, but by then I've seen everything. I've seen it all."

I don't know what it is with AD for me. It's not the hype, because I recognize that the show is brilliant, and the hype is well deserved. My daughter's a huge fan, and we have the series on DVD. I watch it and chuckle, I'm just not rabid, like many fans are.

I remember having a discussion with NSW and Beav about Curb once, and they both felt that the show lost something. I believe they gave up on it during the season that featured trying to get a kidney for Richard Lewis, if I'm not mistaken? To me, that season definitely wasn't a high point, but it was still well worth watching, and the season after picked up a lot, I thought. I'm really looking forward to it restarting, but the last I read is pretty much that there's no set date for that to happen, it'll just be whenever David feels like doing it.

My top 3 all-time favorite TV shows:

I loved the finale  I agree that it felt rushed though. Just two or three more episodes would have tied everything up properly.

Oh, and another appearance from Jess wouldn't have gone astray either :flirt:

That's cool.

Isn't he in the middle of filming a Woody Allen movie right now?

At least you chuckle.

Yes, the kidney episode was another that just rubbed me the wrong way. I watched a few after I first started becoming dissatisfied with the show, but for me, it never regained its footing. But, whatever, I still love the first few seasons and would re-watch them anytime.

Another great Curb episode, or set of episodes, was when Wanda was gonna marry Krazee Eyez Killa, Larry expects infidelity, later gets a certain hair caught in his throat, and spits it up on a nativity scene. High comedy.

I just checked, and the movie you're referring to is in post-production, slated for release next year. This year, he's been in an environmental documentary, along with his ex-wife. According to wiki, Jeff Garlin (Jeff Greene) says that as of late '07, Larry was writing the next season.

At least you chuckle.

The last season went to interesting places, and while some episodes were not as typical, it was...interesting...darker than usual. Don't want to say more in case I spoil it for people who might watch it.

Damn. Now I want a Curb/Extras marathon.

I loooove Wanda and Jeff's wife, and the way they rant.

Jeff's wife was probably my favorite recurring thing on the show. That, and Larry's early interaction with Richard Lewis. Krazee Eyez Killa was priceless.

Jeff's wife used to really piss me off, but I grew to like her as I watched more of the show.

Bob Odenkirk as Porno Gil is another highlight. You can never have too much of Bob and/or David Cross of Bob & David. Apparently they're developing a show for HBO or Showtime right now together.

Who else loves Mr. Show and The Ben Stiller Show?

I loved Mr. Show. Did not like The Benn Stiller show.

There was a skit on Mr. Show where Odenkirk is a preacher, and he's telling the congregation that Satan "can suck my dick". It was so unexpected, I was laughing hysterically.

I meant to respond to this earlier, but I forgot. I've heard very good things about this show. I should see if it's torrented. Is it still running, or has it been cancelled?
