Oneblood:

Also, fuck all of you for picking up on the one major typo I make on here in ages.

:therethere: I'm sorry. But it was just such a fabulous typo.

Scumbo:
Chinatown makes all of the songs you mentioned look like shit. Well, maybe not, but it's easily one of my favorite songs this year. The new Wild Nothing and Radio Dept. will be in my top 20 this year, if not top 10. I'll never get tired of this sound.

Why can young hipsters not differentiate between dream pop and shoegaze?

Chinatown didn't actually do much for me, but I kind of was expecting it to be super-awesome, so I might've overhyped it in my head.

So then, tell me which category does this album fall under? I want to learn, Scumbs.

You've got to be fucking kidding me there with your bottom ten. No way does Ke$ha deserve the bottom of that heap.

I'll concede that I need to update. It hasn't been moved since I fell under the spell of Your Love Is My Drug.

It is a crappy album though, sadly. I want her to actually be good, since I do like her personally. For now, she's just Ke$ha, not really good.

I've heard far worse pop albums in my time. There are at least 6 or 7 songs on that album I listen to fairly regularly. Especially in the car. It's stupid, but I enjoy it all the same. Just saying, to see it on the bottom of your list, especially under fucking Li'l Wayne, just screams hating because of who the artist is.

I like Ke$ha fine, you know that. It's just a poor album, like most collections of pop songs passed off as albums.

But yeah, it's not leaving the bottom 5-10. I actually don't mind much above that. Hell, Rockstar actually wasn't bad at all.

Well as you know, I have Rockstarr pretty high on my list.

But it's not like I've got Ke$ha at #2 or something. She's...53/62 on mine.

Where do you find the time?

Chinatown probably fits into your earlier remarks, while there's nothing super unique or overly remarkable about it, it's just a catchy and nice song. For some reason it got stuck in my head after hearing it a few times, and still hasn't left.

I was mostly joking with that, as I'm not really sure if even I know the difference. When Last FM was actually more of a social site, and the groups served a purpose and had discussions, I remember seeing people get into big arguments about whether or not certain bands were shoegaze or dream pop. It was kinda funny.

Trying to remember their reasoning, most shoegaze fannies seem to think the music needs to be predominately about the guitars, and think the dreamier production heavy / synth stuff is more dream pop. If it's similar to My Bloody Valentine or Ride, then shoegaze. If it's closer to Slowdive, dream pop. At least that's what I took from their arguments. I used to call bands shoegaze/dream pop, so that I wouldn't offend anyone.

. I get you.

Like I said earlier, I generally like the whole album. I mentioned to elMel last night that I think the only reason the second half felt a bit weak to me was only because I loved the first 7 tracks SO much.

What was the typo the hippy made, by the way? I need more ways to mock her.

A friend texted me earlier telling me I have a ticket to BB King & Buddy Guy. That should be pretty cool.

Where do you find the time?

Well, first off, I don't have a job. Then, when school is in session, I listen to loads of music while studying. I need my iPod back for class breaks, although Grooveshark will function nicely for the school library.

Absolutely nothing to be proud of in the above, I realize.

Fuck. You. Utahan. Scum.

Do you really need more ways to mock me? I think I cover that category well enough on my own...

Even with a job (I usually work anywhere from 20-40 hours, depending on the time of year), it's not *that* hard to find time to listen to an insane amount of albums. At last count, I was at 50-ish from this year alone. But, I'm allowed to listen to music at work, usually, and at every opportunity (any time I'm not in class), I have headphones on.

Dedication, people. That's all it takes.

WHUT.

Although the line about "...who put "made in Germany" on my ass" made me laugh.

Maybe they're working on a cover of The Carpenters "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft."
