LOL. I have some David Sylvian too but thats on vinyl
but vinyl is great  i've got two japan lps as well as a single. love gentlemen take polaroids so much i even bought a poster  david sylvian is good but only his first album or two. then he got too out there for me.

anyway, here's my list. it's incomplete, yes, but i don't care. some of it is embarrassing, but i can at least tell you the worst of it (the country, n sync, etc.) were gifts that i just haven't ever bothered to sell. i hate selling music because i've always ended up regretting it. and i did last name, first name so i could alphabetize this list.

I don't want to type out all the ovbious ones (Beatles, Who, Clash, Replacements, Pink Floyd, The Cure, etc., etc.), so I'll just list stuff not mentioned (or not mentioned much). iwb. cool.

tennispunk: can i ask why you like merzbow? not dissing your music taste or anything (it's excellent), but to me merzbow is just noise without much (or any) musical features about it and i want to know what part of it appeals to you. i've always wondered this.

hey isn't that the guy with the 100-disc box sets of white noise?

or did i screw this one up again? how many times have i asked you what his name was, yertle? probably 6 or 7...

I'm not offended--my case for Merzbow is the same as my case for most music that is considered "noise," like the NYC band Sightings, Neon Hunk, Zipperspy and a bunch of others.

This is not music I listen to very often. But it's music that I appreciate on an intellectual level, rather than an emotional one. It's stuff that I hear and think something to the effect of "wow, I'm so glad there is someone out there who thought to do that." It also makes me wonder about the people who *do* listen to Merzbow etc on a regular basis and ARE moved by it on an emotional level.

That explanation probably sounds really pretentious, but it's the best way I can articulate it. I guess for me, it's kinda like opera. I don't enjoy opera, but I have a lot of respect for it.

Does that make any sense at all?
