The thing I liked the most about Turkey was the people. They are very friendly and hospitable. My favorite buildings were the mosques. They're beautiful. I'm going to have three or four paintings just from the mosques.

Has this trip planted alot of ideas in your head for future art projects?

Oh, yes. I'm going to have to try to figure out how to adapt Arabic calligraphy. There are all of these verses from the Koran all over the mosques. They have round objects on the walls of the mosques with some of the verses on them. They look sort of like great big medallions, but they're not metal. I don't know what they're made of.

Here's a story about a wacky sign in a Turkish village. We pulled up at some shops in a Turkish village. There was a huge sign that said (insert name of village, I forget the name of it) Viagra.

:giggle: Anything to do with Viagra is worth a laugh.

Yeah, but the thing that made this really funny is that the Turkish countryside is generally conservative as hell. So I was really shocked when I saw the sign. Turks are actually real party animals.

I also performed the tea ritual in the Grand Bazaar. You go into some shop, tea is served, and the seller tries to sell you a product. Strangely, I didn't do the tea ritual at the shop where I actually bought something. I just walked up to the shop, saw this great big beautiful Turkish art book, and it was a done deal. I picked up the book, told the guy I wanted it, and how much was it? In minutes the book was mine. I'd done my business, I wasn't buying anything else in the bazaar. But the bazaar is an amazing experience.
