....that I have ever heard. U2 is my favorite band and I think Bono is one of the best songwriters ever. I sometimes wish however that he could match the emotional blender that Bruce Springsteen can sometimes put you through. If you don't have Bruce's new album, you must get it. It is filled with images of September 11th, and the song "Into the Fire" will hit you right in the gut. It may be the most powerful song I have ever heard. If that song doesn't make you think, they might as well bury you.

U2 Forever!!

That song is one of my favorites off "The Rising" too! Absolutely gorgeous - haunting and uplifting all at the same time!

I completely agree with you 150%!!! That song is a genuine gem of a tune. Its heartbreaking, hopeful, very descriptive, the imagery is profund, yet it has a simple quality to it that only Bruce Springsteen can pull off. And no one else on the planet can write and sing that kind of a song about an event so massive. There is just something about that song and the album that truly makes you feel something gutteral, something that I have not felt about music since ATYCLB. This is Bruce's year. I'm glad someone else feels this way, too!!!

I keep hearing about this but for some reason I have not heard it OR I have heard it and did not know it was him. Curiosity is getting the better of me and I think I may just break down and to by the CD.

The sky was falling and streaked with blood
I heard you calling me, then you disappeared into the dust
Up the stairs, into the fire
Up the stairs, into the fire
I need your kiss, but love and duty called you someplace higher
Somewhere up the stairs, into the fire

May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love

You gave your love to see, in fields of red and autumn brown
You gave your love to me and lay your young body down
Up the stairs, into the fire
Up the stairs, into the fire
I need you near, but love and duty called you someplace higher
Somewhere up the stairs, into the fire

May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love

It was dark, too dark to see, you held me in the light you gave
You lay your hand on me
Then walked into the darkness of your smoky grave
Up the stairs, into the fire
Up the stairs, into the fire
I need your kiss, but love and duty called you someplace higher
Somewhere up the stairs, into the fire

May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love bring us love...

May your love bring us love
