those are both good questions, Alisaura. I had considered the fact that I had 'quoted smileys' as perhaps being questionable. but I decided that it was ok 'cause I wasn't using them, they weren't doing anything for me. besides I would only be able to respond to non smiley posts if i were to follow these restrictions.
your other question about the complex smiley's is also very good. from what i've seen there is a sort of secret smiley society(say that three times fast) led by Sicilian Goddess that understands the use of the complex smileys. Perhaps if those secrets were to be liberated I could...<sniffle sniffle>, begin to smile again.
