Some time ago in this forum I mentioned some local up and coming talent...The McClymont Sisters.
I stood in front of my Tv with happy tears watching Brooke Mc Clymont in the #50 spot on the RAGE top 50 on Saturday morning. It is a song with some substance( unlike a lot that currently hold higher positions on the charts), a great film clip, Brooke performed well to camera and unlike so many women on the Top 50, she dressed tastefully.
This evening on Aussie Tv they are broadcasting the Australian Schools Spectacular 2002 (7.30 ABC). Brooke's younger sisters Molly and Samanthat feature in that. Samantha closes the show with the theme song. Brooke is good, but Sam is going to be even better imho. She is in my son's music class at school and they did their end of year performance exams last week. He said she was brilliant.

They started out in the Grafton Country Music Club. A couple of old local cowboys( who happen to own very very nice guitars) drove them all over the countryside to enter talent quests to get them started( they still do that for local kids, they have a mini bus now, it wouldn't happen without them) Brooke has recorded a song with Garth Brooks and I think they have only just begun.I hope so. Their country roots may not be every one's cup of tea.....but heck I am stoked. I saw Brooke sing when she was knee high to a grasshopper, I knew she "had " it. Music has been her heart's desire and she is now living it. Grand stuff.

I don't think I love you...I know!!!

little sisters ruleOK...imho

**Bravo!!! Bravo!! Encore**
The whole concert was enjoyable, it is so well done. A Guinness Book of records event, 3000 children performing on the one stage for the finale. They cover all styles of music. An 18 year old man called Shannon Brown sang "Nessa Dorma"( however you spell it, took me back to the Wallabies/ INXS concert and the fi re wor ks !!! )
They had a section for primary school age children featuring TV families. I thought it was wonderful they included kids in wheelchairs. They were dressed like Fred Flintstone and their wheelchairs were done up to look like the Flinstone's car...they were doing wheelies and wheelstands and generally having a ball.
But the McClymont Sisters..!WOW!
Brooke was a special guest ( she has performed in previous concerts, but has left school now) It allowed her sisters to do backing vocals for her and showcase her single "I Don't Think, I Know"( reminds me of a Corrs song). Brooke has a strong , true voice and I asked my son if Samantha can sing that well, She is much much better in his opinion....and I soon found out...she is!!
The Finale!! She wrote the song...it has great meaningful lyrics, she looked fabulous (she's only 17, senior year of high school in 2003) but her performance and her voice...sensational. I know my judgement is slightly clouded by pride( and the need for glasses and probably a hearing aid) but even blind freddie would agree....she's sumthin' else.
and then there's little Molly, yet to step forward on her own. The baby of the family....watch out!
The School's Spectacular will celebrate it's 20th year on 2003. it is a truly fabulous event that showcases the talent to be found in the Australian Public School system. I know our school has had it's funding trimmed to the bone( some of the things the teachers have to do to keep the art supplies going for the year... the music room has been without a Cd player for months and when they did get one it was on loan from the art department with a coathanger for an aerial....some of the stories I hear!!
But they make the most of what they have got...and some!!!
BRAVO! BRAVO!teachers, parents and students....encore

well that was short-lived

Brooke came in at #50 and is gone this morning.
Some song called" it's only porn mom" is in her place...saints preserve us!!! I don't think, I know, her song, had substance....so be it, sex cells...I mean sells.
I hope they stay true to their music.
