I imagine a third Melbourne show, if it happens, would get announced on Sunday, again to go in the Sunday papers. Maybe early next week. I'm not feeling greatly confident, but if they reckon sales are flying, well ... as long as THEY perceive that the market is strong enough to sustain a third show.

C'mon Vlad, go buy a ticket to help the cause. And, y'know, see U2.

I really, really wish I could. :sigh:

Steal $400 and make it happen. That'll cover your ticket, airfare, and hotel.

If only I can bring them to play in my alfresco. Go one better than your effort.

OK, I'm going to actually attempt to head out and see how I go. I'm feeling a bit healthier today.

Somebody text me if anything notable happens in U2 world.

Hearing comes and goes. Having the most trouble with low frequencies. My own fault for being such a punk rawker.

Hope it all goes healthily!

I probably won't find out unless someone texts me, but sure.

I guess now's not the time to play bass, then...

Sucks you can't come to Melb, Vlad! :( Are your parents not keen on you travelling solo?

I guess not. It's worst with low drones, like distant highway traffic, overhead airplanes, refrigerator fan, etc. Don't really need to worry about not hearing those.

This. If it wasn't totally fiscally irresponsible, I'd fly to Australia just to escort you to one of the shows.

I guess that's the side benefit of deafness...?

I haven't been on a plane for over 10 years.

I hadn't been overseas for 25 years when I went to England in 2007... and I guess it had been something like 20 years since I'd been on a plane when I flew between Canberra and Melbourne a number of years before that.

Doesn't explain your no-show

I haven't been on a plane in years. I love it. The physics at work are immensely fun. And you can apply special relativity as well.

I'm sure I'm one of the few that think so.

I survived! Not sure the rain that we got caught in on the way back was good for my health, but I survived!

I found flying to be enormous fun in 2007, but by the time we got back from Europe last year, the novelty was wearing off.

*counts on fingers*

... *runs out of fingers*

*resorts to counting on paper*

I guess taking 26 separate flights in the space of two-and-a-bit years would do that. *L*

The taking-off bit is still awesome, and I love seeing the weather and the ground from that perspective... and turbulence is way too much fun. We had to flight right through some huge thunderheads on the way into Atlanta, that was fantastic. And I like dangling things while the plane is banking and watch gravity getting messed around.

I wonder how much time I'm out by after those flights... :hmm:

But I guess those nasty long-haul flights where I'm wedged in an economy seat and unable to sleep kinda rub some of the fun off after a while.

Oh man, when we flew to Sydney last Monday, there was this horribly annoying high school group. Guys, you don't need to cheer on take-off as if it's some improbable, rare event. And god they made SUCH a fuss over some minor turbulence.

Shit, give me a thunderstorm where the plane drops a thousand feet and the flight attendants are ordered to hit the floor. THAT is fun, even if you think you're gonna die.

I quite like the thought that if you walk to the front of the plane, you're traveling at your normal walking speed PLUS the speed of the plane. Quite easily the fastest one can travel on their feet.

Flying into Wellington on a windy day is great fun, what are you on about!

Pfft. And while I enjoy take-off and am always grateful when it works, I don't feel the need to start a round of applause. Although a Mexican wave might be fun...

Ooh, I haven't had one that dramatic.

Yeah, that's neat. And now I want to piss-bolt up the aisle of the next plane I'm on, just to beat my previous personal best foot speed. *L*
Although I think domestic flights might not necessarily go as high/fast as long-haul ones...?

It is just the Second Law of Thermodynamics, Daniel. Nothing to be afraid of.

I'm not sure. I don't follow flight patterns, I just know how planes fly.

School groups on planes = AVOID AVOID AVOID.

Loud, excited by EVERYTHING, take half of bleeding forever to get on, talk louder than the announcements, and in general far too perky for before-9am.

Oh, and I thought we dressed stupidly when we had free dress ...! I only graduated six years ago!

The Second Law of Thermodynamics is truly a beautiful thing.

Oh, the brain has turned off. Well, parts. I'm still pondering entropy.

still melb GAs left.

:eyebrow:
At the risk of making you paranoid, you're safer in a plane than a car, statistically speaking.

true, but which do you have a greater chance of surviving? a car crash or plane crash? i know which one i'd rather be in.

i can't imagine what it would have been like on that Qantas plane from San Fran to sydney.

So you don't like flying? I fucking hate it. But it hasn't stopped me from doing it.

Or if your parent's aren't keen, see if you can take a train? Its only going to be for a couple of days!

No, I just haven't left Adelaide since I got here, or planned to.

True. But a smooth ride is always nice. I had a minor freak out on the way back to Perth last year, its always terrible landing in Melbourne But that was the worst, roughest ride I've ever had. I've never really had a good experience. Except coming back from Darwin. That was smooth as. Although the all time worst thing that happened on a plane, was coming back from Sydney before Crowded House when some dickheads pretended to light a fire.

I know I'm safe and everything, and its totally unlikely, but my mind wonders, and can't help..."what if?" Maybe you wanna sit somewhere else on the flight up to brissy, Ali? :giggle:
