I went to see some of the celebrating in the city today... quite surprised, I don't think I saw a single southern cross tattoo, no racist beatings (probably because Anglo-Saxons were outnumbered) and little drunken activity. I guess most of the bogans were at home listening to the Hottest 100 and wondered why every song wasn't skip-hop.

I suppose that if you're a bogan, it's safer to hold your barbecue in your backyard so that you don't have to venture out and encounter people who aren't exactly of your own sort.

Plus I guess you lot had the cricket to distract them too.

Oh, good point, when did that finish? I see that Australia did well! Most of the celebrations were in Elder Park, which is very close to Adelaide Oval, so I'm guessing the majority were heading there afterward.

Think it ended around 9pm Radelaide time ... city's probably over-run with bogans partying it up now.

Feels weird that the Australia Day game this year was an ODI, not a Test.

I was there around 6-8, so I'm happy to have missed it. I have other priorities, like playing Sonic & Knuckles. Was nice to have a beer by the Torrens with a festive crowd with the sun going down... although I wouldn't doubt that all the nice mood has disappeared by now thanks to what you described.

As I said though, it was surprisingly pleasant earlier, and very multi-cultural.

Good to hear. I kept forgetting it was even Invasion Day ... didn't head into the city or anything. Though Rudd's nephew did ...!

Rudd has a nephew? I was under the impression he was just self-created at the beginning of 2007 and is incapable of being related to anyone.

He has a socialist nephew who went down to Rod Laver Arena in a KKK uniform to protest racism!

For real? Boy, I'd like to have a drink with him.

Just looked at the start of the thread with the big things/megafauna talk - you know what NZ needs? A shitload of statues of life-size bronze-cast Haast's Eagles in one of the city's CBDs. You could put them all over the place on buildings and everything! It could get scary, and fast.

So this is what Wellington has been lacking all this time!

Put them along the waterfront and the city will be unstoppably awesome. Also, nobody would fuck with us.

Right, I should go sleep. I'm amused that it's 2am here and I'm still passing out before Ian does.

So I didn't go to sleep then at all. I got into a groove and found myself caught up in beating Jimmy Connors in straight sets, 6-2 6-2 6-3.

Tomorrow, Ivan Lendl, you're going DOWN.

Now, sleep.

Oh wow, that's an incredible idea! Scary as fuck. But incredible!

y-o-u-r-e = you are, y-o-u-r = your. you are a bag of douche not your bag of douche. if you're going to insult me at least do it in proper english. that is all.

(774):
Drawing dicks in the frost on people's windshields is a rare joy I allow myself while walking to my 8 AM class.:giggle:

(413):
I think I just need to sleep with both of them to see which I want to date.

(215):
You just went from promiscuous to slut in 3.2 seconds.

wow, even those barely raised a chuckle. I fear the men in white coats are not far away.

I like this person.

eh, just generally feel crappy. Slightly hungover which doesn't help. :reject:
Soo many reasons to feel bad, know I should fight it but am finding it a little hard

Isn't slightly hungover par for the course the last couple of weeks?

We're all here if you need to talk ...

 yeah, it feels so good the night before, but the morning after? :crack:

The main thing is a situation I have absolutely no control over. Have a really bad gut feeling about someone but when I say things it comes across as jealousy, which it is a little. BUt I dunno, I feel physically ill thinking about this person.

You see why I don't drink past being tipsy most of the time ...!

Ah bugger. :(
