Phoebe is still displeased with this whole ear drop thing, but they seem to be less traumatic to her. Last night, instead of running under the bed and hiding for two hours, she only stayed there about 5 minutes.

This morning and just now, she just shook it off and went about her business, looking for her treat.

The vet said the first few times would probably sting, so I guess she's past that stage. She's still shaking her head a bit (not just after the drops; that's different), but I think it's been less, so yay.

Wesley is back at it with being a trouble maker. He's done really well the past month but the last few days have just been awful. He has plenty of food, treats, water, toys all over the place but he's starting digging in that damn gigantic tree we have. He's totally knocked it over 3 times in since yesterday morning. I wasn't too happy to hear about this but this morning it actually fell on him. Thankfully it's not heavy but I'm sure it's heavy enough for him that it didn't feel good to have it fall on him. I guess he got so nervous that he had a little accident in the middle of it all. My mom witnessed it all this morning and said he looked like he was just horrified. He hid the rest of the morning. She said it was minor so I'm not worried that he's sick or anything like that. He also won't let me sleep at all. Lately he has left me completely alone once I feed him his wet so I'm able to get somewhat of a decent night's sleep. But now this past week he eats and then comes back into my room and starts digging at things or trying to pull down the blinds.

It's starting to get cold here, not too bad though. It's still in the 60's but the wildlife in the pond is already starting to disappear so I think that's part of the problem. He doesn't have much to look at anymore. I'm really worried about what's going to happen when there's a few feet of snow on the pond and zero wildlife outside for a few months. He's going to be so bored!

Perhaps he needs a little playmate? Someone/something to occupy his time? :hmm:

that's never going to happen while I live with my parents. I'm just thankful I have Wesley at all because while my parents like animals, they would rather just visit them and not live with them.

Does he ever pay attention to the tv? They make "cat sitter" DVDs that show birds moving about, things like that.

I saw that at Petsmart but I didn't know how long it would be. Don't most dvd's only last 2-3 hours? I'm not sure if he actually watches it or not but I sleep with my tv on sometimes and I know he likes to curl up on the end of my bed facing it. But I don't know if he's sleeping or actually watching it like Lily did.

In other Wesley news....we had the whole family over for dinner tonight including my cousin's two kids who are 2 and 4. He ran downstairs as soon as him saw them and hid under the couch and stayed there the entire time. I went down with the 4 year old a few times to talk to Wesley and offer toys but he wouldn't budge. He didn't even want the treats I offered him. He was ok a few weeks ago when we had a handful of people over but this was his first big party and his first time with kids.

Some cats are afraid of kids or just dont like them. My parents cat Tiffy hisses and growls every time my nephew gets near her. She's even swatted at him before.

Mine usually run in the bedroom when the kids come over. I think a part of it is because children are so loud and like hyper and all over the place. The cats dont know what to make of it.

well now I'm a little concerned that he ate some of the plant twines that are in the pot. He threw up pink foam while I was at work today. He's totally acting normal but I've never heard of pink before I so I looked it up. It said it's blood. :crack: So now I'm worried I need to take him to the vet tomorrow. This plant just needs to get out of the house. He won't leave it alone! It wasn't knocked over this morning but he dug up some of the dirt in the pot so I'm sure he swallowed some of it.

Do you know what kind of plant it is? Yeah I'd definitely get the plant out of the house. It's just not worth all the trouble. They sell fake plants these days that look just like the real thing if you really want plants in the house.

It's a gigantic tree.

He's trying to get to the leaves but he can't quite reach them unless he goes on the couch. But the bottom has dirt and twines and very old plant food. My mom said she got the plant 6 years ago and has never once added food so it's at least 6 years old. But I'm worried he ate some of the twine and that caused him to throw up.

Do you think I need to be worried about pink foam?

just once. He's had water and some dry food. I don't think he's been in his box since I've been home. He's acting totally normal which is crazy so I think he's fine but I'm just such a worrier when it comes to him that I get nervous over every little thing that happens. This really makes me wish I would have grown up with pets because maybe I wouldn't be so bad.

Aw Phoebes! :cute:

arw he'll probably be fine unless he continues to vomit, acts lethargic, stops eating, etc.

I know...I'm just nuts. Not only do I post here but I make my sister call her friend that's an emergency vet tech. She told me no this time :grumpy: But my sister said Lily has thrown up pink before and it was nothing. He's going about everything business as usual.

So my little brother's girlfriend just posted this on her FB:

"ANYONE KNOW A LOW PRICE PLACE TO GET A CAT FIXED, THAT DOESN'T REQUIRE THEIR SHOTS DONE???"

lol, :|

Its quite normal for him to react this way to kids. We have the same issue with keto. He loves to be around people, even complete strangers who come to our home for the first time. he's all lovey dovey with them but the moment there's a child in the house, all bets are off. He actually gets aggresive and sometimes violent so we have to be extra careful when kids are in the house.

Kids are unpredictable in their movements, they run and play all over the place and they are loud and Keto has never adjusted to that.

Also, out of curiosity, kids always tend to go grab Keto's toys, and he hates that. He gets completly bent out of shape if a child is near any of his toys.

Keto's too old to change his personality now but Wesley is still young, he can probably still be trained to accept and get along with kids

the 4 year old is super loud so I knew right away Wesley was going to flip. We had a smaller party a few weeks ago and he let everyone pick him up and snuggle for a minute. I think the kids and the larger amount of people combined freaked him out. The 4 year old tried to give Wesley toys and treats but he wouldn't move from under the couch. They are the only little kids in the family and don't stop by too often so I'm not too worried about him with kids. I'm more concerned about my sister's dog. She hasn't brought her here since I got Wesley but she really wants to. The dog is very friendly and playful so I think she's going to want to immediately chase him to play but I'm sure Wes will freak out and run under the couch. Lily just whacks the dog across the face anytime she gets too close to her. It's so cute!

ok here's my next question.....

There's not a Petco near me so I can't go too often. But I have to run an errand tomorrow and I know I'll pass one on my way. So I want to try a new type of wet food for Wesley. I know everyone said to mix his dry foods when I changed over to but what about wet foods? Do I just give him a tiny amount of the new wet to see if he likes it but then give him some of his other stuff?

Yeah, be very careful about introducing a dog to an already skittish cat.

How large is this dog? that might also play into how he reacts.

Usually when introducing a new pet to an already existing pet, its done very gradually and sometimes may take a few days. Usually you keep them in seperate rooms and let them smell/hear/feel each other's presence and then when they feel comfortable you can let them near one anther.

If a dog comes into your house and just runs up to Wesley, you can be sure he's going to get very traumatised
