Aww, they're precious :cute:

I've been home again this weekend to keep Chloe company as my parents are out of town indefinitely meeting my newborn nephew.

Our neighbor is wonderful in taking care of her, but it's not the same as being here all day to be on her every beck and call. She won't be happy when I go back to school in a few hours.
 
I found Beckham and Posh cuddling on our bed. Please excuse the mish-mash of random blankets, it's been really cold here and I can't afford to turn the heat up!

Aww kitty love!!

My sister's cat has held a grudge against me for wow, 7 years now ever since I got Chloe because he feels that I replaced him. To this day whenever I go visit my sister he'll let my parents love all over him, but if I try he gets mad and runs away.

Lies, I know what you mean about six blanket/two cat nights--cold here, too! It's so cute how your cats cuddle. :cute:

NEW YORK - A skittish kitten that scampered out of its carrier on a subway platform has been found after 25 days in the underground tunnels.

Transit workers tracked down 6-month old Georgia under midtown Manhattan Saturday. Police reunited her with owner Ashley Phillips, a 24-year-old Bronx librarian.

After hearing that the black cat might have been spotted below Lexington Avenue and East 55th Street, track workers Mark Dalessio and Efrain LaPorte went through the area making "meow" sounds.

Georgia responded, and they found her cowering in a drain between two tracks.

Georgia had lost some weight and scratched her nose but was otherwise unhurt. She had disappeared while Phillips was bringing her home from a veterinarian visit last month.

I'm having the weirdest experiences. Maybe it's the
fullmoon/ eclipse thing going on.
This cat that I've seen around lately and was outside my apartment morning before last, was at my door this evening when I came in. He looks just like GibsonGirls pics of Jizan, a few pages back.
He came in and just made himself at home. Reminds me of my cat, Johnny Walker from many years ago.
He's been watching me surf around the threads but is now curled up by my feet purring away.
It's suppose to be stormy tonight & tomorrow. What if he doesn't have a safe place, and everyones just been feeding him. Although he has no tags or collar, he's well fed and soooo friendly.
So, My question is.. can I keep him. :hyper: Bela (when she comes home) would love him. I think.
I don't want to be a catnapper, but he's so... I know, I know I've got to find out who he belongs too. :wink:
 
I have a question for you lovely cat ladies on the board ;) as I'm considering adoping a kitty from the humane society. I'm normally a dog person, but I had a cat once when I was younger. Now normally I'm allergic to cats, but I had no problems with this one. That and I seem to always end up with boyfriends with cats :shrug: I think maybe I just get used to certain kitties, but I don't know. I know if I take meds I'm usually fine.

Anyone have any experience with owning cats and dealing with allergies? Or am I just a weird? :D

Oh, that and how and where can I purchase a lolcat? :hmm: I'd like one of those.

A LETTER TO YOUR PET

Dear Dogs and Cats:

When I say to move, it means go someplace else, not switch positions with each other so there are still two of you in the way.

The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Please note, placing a pawprint in the middle of my plate of food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.

The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack. Beating me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run.

I cannot buy anything bigger than a king size bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue to sleep on the couch to ensure your comfort. Look at videos of dogs and cats sleeping. They can actually curl up in a ball. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out the other end to maximize space used is nothing but sarcasm.

My compact discs are not miniature Frisbees.

For the last time, there is not a secret exit from the bathroom. If by some miracle I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob, or get your paw under the edge and try to pull the door open. I must exit through the same door I entered. In addition, I have been using the bathroom for years - canine or feline attendance is not mandatory.

The proper order is kiss me, then go smell the other dog's or cat's butt. I cannot stress this enough. It would be such a simple change for you.

To pacify you, I have posted the following message on our front door.....

Rules for Non-pet owners who visit and like to complain about our pets:
1. They live here. You don't.
2. If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture.
3. I like my pet better than I like most people.
4. To you it's an animal. To me he/she is an adopted son/daughter who is short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn't speak clearly.
5. Dogs and cats are better than kids. They eat less, don't ask for money all the time, and are easier to train. They usually come when called, never drive your car, don't hang out with drug-using friends,don't drink or smoke, don't worry about buying the latest fashions, don't wear your clothes, don't need a gazillion dollars for college, and if they get pregnant, you can sell the results.

I would try to find out if he has a home first, is it a boy? Does he have dingleberries still? If he's neutered he most likely has a home.

Kaf, all I have to say about that is please dont adopt a cat and then give it away because you're allergic. Not that that's what you would do, but I just have to say it because I hear too many stories like that and it really just makes me want to kill people. I do know of a few people that are allergic and have cats, but they have to be on meds constantly. Maybe you can get one of those furless cats :wink: :lol:

VP so she is pregnant eh? Have you been doing research online to find out what you need to do to help her through the birthing process and all that?

That's a good point for Kaf, Sicy. It made me think, maybe fostering a kitten/cat for a few weeks might be a solution? That way, you can see how your body will react to living with one 24/7. I used to be allergic to both cats and dogs as a kid, and once I reached my teen years, I was fine. :)


Sicy, I've been researching like crazy. It sounds as though 99% of births go fine without human intervention, but there are a few things to look for, and if the mother is neglecting to do these things, then you have to step in after a few minutes and do them for her. Also, there are time guidelines as to the length of time between kittens coming, and when you need to seek veterinary assistance. I'm a little nervous, but mostly excited. I also sort of want it to be all over, because she looks so huge and uncomfortable. At this stage, she's mostly eating and sleeping. On the rare occasions that she does come to us for affection, it's generally just for a couple of minutes, then she goes off by herself again. Last night the kittens were kicking up a storm, and it was like the poor thing couldn't get comfortable. I'm sure all the mothers out there can relate to this feeling, I sure can.

Sarah's home for reading week/spring break this week, so I'd love for them to be born before Monday, so she can be home for it. :)

Have some KMR on hand just in case any of the kittens decide they absolutely will not suck on the mothers milk.
 
Sicy and VP - I know what you're saying. I take pet "owning" very seriously, which is why I'm seeing if anyone else has this experience. Going on my previous experiences, I should be fine. If I have to take meds, I can. I take them all the time these days anyway, cause this city drives my allergies crazy :yuck:
 
Loving all the kitty stories and pictures! Sue, our Fergus had been neutered before we took him in has a stray, or so we found out when we took him to the vet for his pre-welcome to the house visit. The vet said that if he *did* belong to someone, they weren't taking care of him--he was severely malnourished and full of fleas. Doc said we were the ones taking care of him; and as far as he was concerned, *we* were the owners now! Also, sometimes the spay-and-neuter folks will capture and neuter a cat, then let it go, so it's hard to say.

I've been "out of commission" with the honest-to-goodness flu for a week now. I'm happy to say that Dr. Fergus and Nurse Callie have been on the case!
