Floridan U2 Fans - question!

I'm planning a road trip from cold and crappy Winnipeg to Orlando with a bunch of my friends. I am curious how long it takes to drive from Orlando to Daytona Beach (following the speed limit of course LOL)

And also, is there any good Gulf Coast Beaches West of Florida that are close... (as close as the Gulf Coast will get to Orlando LOL) and how long would it take to drive there?

Hope someone can help me!

(And it is Floridan or Flordinian LOL)

it takes about an hour to get to daytona from orlando taking the I-4 interstate the entire way.

on the west coast there is clearwater, st. petersburg, and tampa .. fun places to go. taking I-4 from orlando it's about two hours (going in the opposite direction from daytona). there's a theme park in tampa and a casino too .. it's a pretty good time.

I second the Clearwater reco - beautiful area there. And if you go, check out Frenchie's on the beach - best rumrunners ever.

mmmm, I'm planning my Florida spring break trip as well. We always go camping at Collier-Seminole state park(just south of Naples going into the Everglades). It's hot, cheap, no one else is there to bother you, and I love the Everglades.

And LivLuvAndBootlegMusic - We aren't going that far south. Just to Orlando, so its not really an option(unfortunately!)

Any good beaches or Clearwater you can mention by name so I can look it up - were planning on going May 2007 (long way away but at least we will for sure have $ and it planned right!).

And I'd love to check out the casino and rumrunners at Clearwater... but none of us will be 21 by the time we go on this trip! lol (me, the oldest, will have turned 20 in February).

In Canada the party starts at 18. LoL.
