I bought the new special editon DVD for my Dad for father's day, and i bought one for myself as well to make sure I didn't steal his copy...

on my list with rocky and hoosiers as one of the three greatest sports movies ever made... and also, one of the top 10 greatest movies EVER made... and as far as father-son movies, nothing can top it...

It was on TV recently. I've seen it a million times but I never get tired of it.

I love this movie very much. It's heaven for baseball fans.
James Earl Jones gives one of the very best performances I have ever seen in this movie, and I still don't understand why he wasn't nominated for Best Supporting Actor. He was very believable as a bitter recluse who was transformed into a happy, loving man, thanks to the magic of baseball.
