Favorite non-U2 concert

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Bjork at the Troc right after Post came out. Aphex twin opened.
Radiohead right after Ok came out at the Electric factory in Phila as well.
Sarah mclachlan at the Tower and at the Mann with the Chieftains unplugged.
John Willims at the Mann too.
god I can't stop!

Michael Jackson with The Jacksons, 1984 I think. Neyland Stadium, Knoxville. For the spectacle alone.

Wilco, A Ghost is Born tour in Memphis. Jaw-dropping, surreal, and multi-/extrasensory.

Sunny Day Real Estate, Rising Tide tour, Memphis.

Mutemath, Memphis, this year. New, albumless band that blew me away. I need to see them again to make sure it wasn't something I ate. Their ep is mediocre, but the live show was spectacular.

Massive attack with 100th window tour
Foo Fighters - June 29th 2005
Bjork with Matmos after Vespertine came out (2003-07-17)

Madonna - Re-Invention Tour - Lisbon September 2004

It was amazing... I was not expecting something like that, 'cause I thought she sang very badly and it was just another pop-music show...

For me, this is a hard one, but I'd say Bruce Springsteen, front row (in front of Little Steven :hyper: :hyper: :hyper: ) on The Rising tour, 2002.

:jealous:

REM/Grant Lee Buffalo, 1995
Billy Bragg (every single tour)
Jeff Buckley (so lucky to have seen him on his second, and last, Aussie tour )

and

Duran Duran, 1982

Was one of these the "Good Vibes" concert in Chicago (2003-02-05) with the Tim Tams & messages of hope :hyper: :hmm:

YUP! That show was at the Vic but I actually preferred the first Neil solo gig I saw better, 7/9/02 at the Park West, smaller venue, slightly better setlist, + Lisa Germano on violin & keyboards (more "7 Worlds Collide" themed). Neil is always terrific in concert, personable and very down to earth.

PJ Harvey and Doves are also great live...should have mentioned them in my honorable mentions...

no one I've seen comes close to U2 for me:combust:

But most fun maybe Violent Femmes at Hollywood High school
REM very good
Dead Can Dance was otherworldy but I think I was slipped something before that show:shifty:

Chemical Brothers, Coachella 2005
Pink Floyd, Rose Bowl, Pasadena, 1994
David Bowie and NIN, Los Angeles, 1995

Honorable Mention: Public Enemy opening up for U2 at Anaheim Stadium during the final US date of the Zoo TV tour.

joy division (1979)
the smiths ('85-86)
the clash (1977) same show the would-be-members of u2 went to

...right...

my real list:
radiohead ('95) flaming lips (95)
the cure (1997) bjork (2003)
interpol (03) arcade fire (1/05)
kasabian (6/05)

I've seen so many shows it's hard to say...but obvious favorites are the many Tori Amos and Jeff Buckley shows; Bjork; Wilco; Damien Rice. And there are a whole bunch of things like Tom Waits way back when that I've nearly forgotten about but which blew my mind at the time.

radiohead @ santa barbara bowl 2001 (or 2002? can't remember)
david gray @ san francisco civic auditorium
coldplay @ greek theater 2002
travis @ wiltern and universal ampitheater

Pronoia

Do you know the setlist for the first concert? :hyper:. I'm seeing the Brothers 3 nights this weekend... should be great (in a very slight way I would prefer Neil solo - but that will come next year apparently).

That Park West show is one of my favourite Neil boots even if it does drop out after All God's Children's debut  (which is met with hillarious laughter  )
