I thought your house was Vinyltown?

And holy shit! My mother just did some vacuuming, including around my computer, which required moving some cords around. The vacuum cleaner drowned out the computer's beeping, and when she turned it off ... the computer's not beeping! It's ... quiet. It's making its usual gentle hum (come on Khanda, you better get that Finn pun. You won't, will you?).

that too. the government (socialist, natch) is currently hearing arguments from both sides as to what should be the official town name.

:swoon: awesome, my mom's computer had the same thing happen and it just suddenly stopped as well. never did figure out what the problem was with hers either! (and yes, i got that one, lol)

Universal: This new album...see, the problem is that, though I can understand your efforts to introduce North America to African culture, I have no idea who "Little Angosisye" is. Is she an underground rapper of some kind?

Bono: No, she's one of the many sick children who speak about her homeland on the record.

Universal: Uh...huh. Well, I'm not sending out royalty checks, orphans or not. You're going to have to remove every track with African children on it.

Bono: But that just leaves Sexy Boots...

Universal: And that one will have to go as well.

Bono: Why?!

Universal: Seriously, Bono? Sexy Boots? You're fucking old. Go listen to some Rod Stewart records. He knows how to age gracefully.

[a week later]

Bono: Here's the new record.

Universal: This is just Now That's What I Call Music 28 with "Now That's What I Call Music 28" crossed out.

Bono: Precisely.

Universal: We can use this.

I am so mystified. But I'm happy now! Still, I plan to get my new computer while Mum's here. Probably the 15" Macbook Pro.

Hi Serena and BEG.

How are things in Ohio and Adelaide respectively?

Morning!! How's folks?
Hi there.
Stuck in bed for the most part!
Yourself?

Hi Serena and BEG.

Axver.
It fucking snowed last night. I rolled over this morning there's all kinds of snow on the roof of the house next door. :|
As for myself, I've been better. Kinda laying in bed trying to relax and avoiding the damn meds if all possible!

Think Christmas shopping is gonna be going on tonight, too. :hyper:

And how are things in Assver's conquered section of Australia?

Quiet here in Adelaide for 9.30 on a Sunday morning (hell, any time on a Sunday morning!) I'm amazed I'm up so early myself but the bands I saw last night were finished by midnight. (The Molting Vultures and the Green Circles, both kinda 60s psychedelic influenced bands, playing at the wunnerful Grace Emily Hotel, where if you should ever visit Adelaide Axver, I will take you for a drink  ). I even got a chat up by a young'un

:jealous:

Though the weather's been fairly mild for this time of year, so I can't complain too much. Beats being in Queensland, where it's hot and hosing down with rain!

I'm not doing too badly really, recovering well from the op.

Ooh, sounds like a good night. And I do hope to take you up on that offer by the end of summer! We'll see how my plans fall into place, but I'd love to hit Adelaide in the later half of January at this point.

Yes, be jealous. I'm jealous of your weather right now, I'll gladly trade.

Oh yeah, I take it that went well then, that's great. So was the worst part the needle?

The amp I'm buying from my brother needs new tubes. Then it'll be fixed. And now, I go to work!

(this thread may still be going by the time I get back, huh?)

A good friend of mine moved from Melb to Brisvegas last year and is learning to cope with the storms. She's fine but it's freaking her cat out big time!

Coming to Adelaide? Nice one!

 I don't miss the storms one bit. I don't mean that they scared me or anything, I just found them a pain in the arse! I prefer Melbourne's wimpy storms that don't force me to shut the computer down and unplug everything.

Yeah, need to do something over summer and a ride on the Overland sounds more and more appealling.

Incidentally, today Mum and I are looking at going to one of the state parks or national parks around Melbourne. Don't suppose you've been to any or know what ones are especially good? We've been out to the Dandenongs before, so I was thinking about maybe the You Yangs or Kinglake this time ...

Don't be jealous - I expect it to be a scorching 38 sometime soon. Friday was 30; I'm glad I was in an air conditioned hospital!

Yeah, needle was easily the most bothersome part. I was unconscious for the rest of the time! Now my nose is just weeping blood a bit.

Yes, undoubtedly. Especially if I go out, since it seems you people cannot finish threads without me. You losers.

Oooh a Sunday drive!! I luurvve a Sunday drive!

I haven't been to many of the national parks as such around Melb, but I have been through many of its picturesque bits: down the Mornington Peninsula (ie through the middle bit rather than down the coast, which I find overrated, and then you can combine with wine tasting  ), up through Healesville, then through Kinglake etc - that's very pretty, even up as far as Marysville/Lake Mountain (I think it's called) but that's a longer drive. Or through the Yarra Valley?

I've got my Melways out now:

Healesville and the Toolangi Forest
Mornington and do the back roads to Portsea
Phillip Island
You Yangs, then down the Bellarine Peninsula to Portarlington and Barwon Heads, where they filmed Sea Change (and driving through Geelong as fast as you can....)

and then you can have a Devonshire tea
