Has anyone else ever tried to call an embassy/consulate to ask a simple question?

It is impossible!!!!!

There are NO real people. Just recorded English accents.

Just like trying to call the INS.

I have never had to call, but of course I have a story.

I was in Bilbao Spain when a taxi driver stole my wallet from me. I had to travel through Greece and then Italy to get back home and I had no cash and no credit cards. After a harrowing time at this, I got back to the US and about 4 weeks later I got a package from the US Embassy in Madrid. SOmehow they got my wallet and sent it back to me with everything intact except for the cash.

It was very bizarre as Madrid is at least 8 hours from where it was stolen in Bilbao...




I hate agencies, and I hate customer service.
