so 'lemon, what do you think of "sunshine highway" as the lead single?

better than "walk away" ;) the way i see it.

maybe it's not the lead single...i was under the impression it was. but the auld triangle is the song epitaph put up on the site. hmmm.

CAPTAIN KELLY'S KITCHEN (COURTIN' IN THE KITCHEN)
(Traditional, arrangement by Dropkick Murphys)

Come single guy and gal unto me pay attention
Don't ever fall in love
It's the devil's own invention
For once he fell in love with a maiden so bewitching
Miss Henrietta Bell down in Captain Kelly's kitchen

CHORUS:
With me toora loora la, me toora loora laddie
Me toora loora la and me toora loora laddie

At the age of seventeen I apprenticed to a grocer
Not far from Stephen's Green
Where Miss Henri' used to go sir
Her manners were sublime she set my heart a-twitchin'
When she invited me to a party in the kitchen

CHORUS

Sunday was the day that they were to have their flare-up
He dressed himself quite gay
I frizzed and oiled my hair up
The Captain had no wife and he had gone a-fishin'
She groped me on the stairs beneath the old man's kitchen

CHORUS

Her arms around my waist she slyly hinted marriage
When to the door in haste came Captain Kelly's carriage
Her eyes were full of hate and poison she was spittin'
The Captain kicked the door in and stormed into the kitchen

CHORUS

When the Captain came downstairs he saw my situation
In spite of all his prayers he was marched off to the station
For him they'd take no bail
To get home I was itchin'
He had to tell the tale how I came into the kitchen

CHORUS

I said she did invite me
But she gave flat denial
For assault she did indict me and I was sent for trial
She swore he'd robbed her house
In spite of all her screechin'
I got six months hard
For his courtin' in the kitchen

CHORUS

I think a DKM cover version of "The Reason" by Hoobastank would be a better lead single than 'Walk Away' was. Why do I hate that song so badly? I dont know, but I do.

Looking forward to hearing some of these new songs you speak of. Glad they have a new album coming out  Maybe the Bouncing Souls will follow suit and put something new out also.

I have to admit, I havent been in the mood for punk music for the most part lately. I am looking forward to DKM and AFI's new albums though, hopefully they'll get me back into it all.

 i agree with a "the reason" cover, and i loathe anything related to hoobastank with every bone in my body. i've thought that maybe seeing dkm do the song live would change that, but really it's just added to the hate.

new afi? :hmm:

yes, we need a new souls album ASAP. what the hell are those guys up to?

It's okay. I've managed to somehow work it into like every post, so I guess I'm still trying to get my head around it on some level, but other than that, it's okay. I actually don't know if the lyrics in the verses are positive at all, but the chorus is quite happy.

you couldn't have worked it into EVERY post...i swear i've read some recent posts of yours and this was the first i'd heard :shifty:

beats me what the lyrics are, actually. and apparently i've listened to it 8 times since loading it into itunes  yet i know all the words to "wicked sensitive crew"! :shifty:

i just read some funny shit on punknews.org about dkm, and the talk of bruisers reunion shows.

someone said this (normally i'd assume not seriously, but someone on this board once said something about a picture of dkm that used to inhabit my sig that makes me worried they're serious) about al barr:
Their singer isn't even moderately attractive.
The guys look like they belong on Victory Records.
Blah.

that site is hilarious.

ah yes. i forgot to mention that's what it was :shifty:

Their song "Tessie" is unbelievably obnoxious. This is coming from a big Sox fan, too.

It's a rewrite of an old broadway song... most of their music is a LOT better.

That said, I think "Tessie" is fun. :reject:

and as a huge dkm fan, i agree.

it's fun live. anywhere else, it's annoying as hell.

SUNSHINE HIGHWAY
(Written by Dropkick Murphys)

Yeah, me and my girl we're acting up again all right
She ain't much of a looker, she can handle her Paraldehyde
You were up all night at the Captain's Table drinking Tango & gin by the old piano
Playing cards and smoking cigars 'til the sun came up
Or was it going down for the night?

CHORUS:
Take another ride on the sunshine highway
Take another ride try to turn it around
Take another ride down the sunshine highway
Take another ride try to turn it around tonight

Drop me off, sign me in, clean me up and let me out
Man that nurse is a bitch, this sucks, she says my jug ain't allowed
I've had my share of Mt. Pleasant messiahs wearing slippers & robes, trying to bum my smokes
I'm gonna Thorazine shuffle straight out that door
Head to the farm and find me a cure

CHORUS

Tonight, yeah yeah yeah
I’m gonna make it right

CHORUS

Cause I’m gonna be the one
To take another ride, take another ride

THE BURDEN
(Written by Dropkick Murphys)

He came from nothing he tried 'em all
Ya' gotta live low before you see them fall
Always a loser he lost his shine
They had no idea what kept the beast alive

CHORUS:
But Frankie's gonna be alright
Yeah Frankie's gonna be alright
They said he was broke and never coming back
But Frankie's gonna be alright

He swore to show them outlast them all
And someday they would see him standing tall
He'd never give in no not back down
I hope they never give up on his sound

CHORUS:
'Cause Frankie's gonna be alright
Yeah Frankie's gonna be alright
They said he was old and he couldn't hold a tune
But I think he's gonna be alright

'Cause Frankie's gonna be alright
Yeah Frankie's gonna be alright
They said they'd be placing roses on his grave
But I think he's gonna be alright

Frankie don’t give up on yourself you heard the voice inside
Frankie don’t give up on yourself only you can save your life
Frankie don’t give up on yourself you heard the voice inside
Frankie don’t give up on yourself only you can save your life

Came from nothing he tried 'em all
Ya' gotta live low before you see them fall
Always a loser he lost his shine
They had no idea what kept the beast alive

CHORUS

They said they'd be placing roses on his grave
But Frankie’s gonna be alright

Of course you don't want another lovely supersexybitchinpunkass cool DKM shirt. :sexywink:

Dear Dropkick Murphys,

I demand an apology. I just purchased your new album, 'The Warrior's Code', and listened to it for the first time. I now cannot sit down comfortably because of the large bruises covering my bottom from you kicking my azz 13 times in a row (14 if you count the bonus kick). I also would like to know what kind of devious secret messages you put in your songs that seem to make me want to stand up and gladly pound my fist in the air along to every song, even while I'm having my bottom kicked in a major way. Then you put a song like 'The Green Fields of France' on your cd just to give me one of the hardest kicks in the pants ever, just because it is the most beautiful song of yours that I have ever heard. This is just unacceptable behavior, I will accept nothing less than a completely heart-felt apology.

Thank you,

~Bruised Bottomed Boy

ahhhh Tessie:censored:

must be the worst song iv ever heard

i cant believe its on mvp 2005s soundtrack

One of my least favorite tracks on the album... but it's still very good.

Right now I'm digging Citizen CIA a lot, just because it feels like such an old school DKM song. Nothing can touch Green Fields of France, though.

It's a fun song. So what if the lyrics are crap and grammatically puzzling and it's fairly generic by the band's standards... it's not supposed to be a masterpiece composition... just a stadium singalong.

I know... I'm a :reject:

tessie was fun, and then i burnt out on it. i don't want to hear it anymore. whatever, i'll live, i know i'll probably be hearing it at every dkm show i go to in the future until they get sick of playing it or it's determined that it brings bad luck now, because i live in mass and i can't see them taking it out of the setlist, even though most people in this state seem to have overdossed. i don't want to hear "walk away", and there's no "walk away" on the warrior's code. man, i fucking love this album.

the walking dead is one of my favorites.

i think the last letter home is my #1 favorite.

citizen CIA rocks, i'm still not sure whether i like it better the way it is now or when it was called "you're dead". but it's got the same sort of feel as "on the attack" or "john law". so therefore it rules.

the green fields of france is beautiful. i'm thinking that this is not so much an opinion, but a fact.

sunshine highway = excellent lead single. i only wish i could watch the video on my slow-ass computer

oh, i'd definetly put the title track in as one of my favorites, too.

did i mention that i still think wicked sensitive crew is hilarious? yeah, it is funny.

and the version of the auld triangle  captain kelly's kitchen.

hey, take it and run ain't bad (although it's probably my least favorite track on the album.

what am i forgetting? your spirit's alive is a damn good tribute to a friend.

and that brings us to the burden. love it.

yes, i neglected to mention "i'm shipping up to boston" on purpose.
