do you listen to european bands or american/canadian bands the most?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

Oh noes, people actually repeat topics occasionally! Whatever will we do?

I prefer British/Irish and Canadian music to American. My favourite bands are:

The Beatles
U2
The Police
Pink Floyd
Coldplay
Bryan Adams

um... Bono even said "I am an american".

He did? Where and when?
(and no, when he states in concert: "A sign reads: 'I'm an American!'" that does not mean he says he's an American himself :))

As for myself, I don't even want to make a list. I don't care where a band/artist is from. As long as they're making good music. (This morning I'm playing American artists (Norah Jones, Gram Parsons), whereas yesterday I was playing U2).
:)

European:
Morrissey
The Smiths
The Verve
Richard Ashcroft
Oasis
Stereophonics
The Beatles

Irish:
The Boomtown Rats
U2
Gary Moore
Aslan
Thin Lizzy
Director
Stiff Little Fingers

American:
Ramones
Bob Dylan
The Dresden Dolls
Blondie
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Arcade Fire

European, half of which are Irish

I catalogued my entire CD collection a few months ago according to the countries and I'd say that the split between European and US/Canadian is about 60% and 40%, respectively. Which actually surprised me because if you asked me to name 10 bands off the top of my head all of them would be British/Irish.

european bands: Rammstein, Thin Lizzy, Mando Diao, U2, Beatles, T.Rex, Led Zep,

american: Queens Of The Stone Age, Metallica, NIN, Strokes, RHCP
