no one... but since when has that stopped them?

Houston wants some big bats, and I can't quite see them giving up Clemens for a handful of beans (sort of what the D-Backs did with Curt Schilling).

they're paying him like 22 million a year and he'll probably retire at the end of the year... i'm sure, if he wants to be dealt, he would be. question is wether or not he wants to be

schilling certainly has moved himself into the prestigous category of "love him when he's on your team, hate his friggin guts when he's playing for someone else"

other members of this prestigous "i'm a gigantic douchebag but my home town fans love me so who gives a shit" club include, but are not limited to...
-david wells
-pedro martinez
-barry bonds
-reggie miller
-the entire roster of the '86 mets
-george steinbrenner

feel free to add to the list

I'd say A-Rod deserves mentioning.

Hey, gotta have at least one Yankee player...

meh... a-rod was one of the most popular player in baseball before he came to the yankees. the only people who hate him are yankee haters and red sox fans. we'll put him in with an asterisk.

sheffield is more douchebag worthy than a-rod... i'd say kevin brown, but even his own fans don't like him. and besides, king george is most certainly on the list... and he certainly represents all of yankee-dom.

I don't think so. I've read articles that pretty much prove the Rangers (and guys on other teams)disliked ARod too.

I'm not defending Curt opening his mouth so much, I don't like that either

http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/3513942

People in the media and fans don't get the look that we get on the field," says Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling, perhaps Rodriguez's most outspoken critic. "There are things he's done and said that I've heard — I've seen — that I have a huge problem with, and I think other guys do, too."

"Judging from the views of former teammates, opposing players and rival executives interviewed for this story, Schilling appears to be right. When asked about Rodriguez, players often roll their eyes in silent disapproval.

During Rodriguez's tenure with the Rangers, he occasionally would make like a Little League coach, shouting basic instructions at his younger teammates. "Get a secondary lead!" he would yell to a runner on first. "Get a secondary lead!" After Rodriguez left the team, one prominent American League veteran asked a younger Ranger with a chuckle, "How are you even able to play without A-Rod telling you what to do?"

you may be right, but i'll wait until someone other than curt schilling or other red sox player scome out publicly and trash him... not exactly the most valid of sources.

and besides, i was talking about how fans feel about players, not teammates. if it was merely about how teammates feel, we'd have to take barry bonds off the list, because... with the exception of other noteworthy douche jeff kent, bonds' teammates love him.

mind you, this list isn't exactly fair and balanced like, say, fox news

did you read the whole article? Curt didn't say this or other quotes in it..

I think the former Rangers teammates trash him there, also I've heard he wasn't too popular amongst fans in Texas - could be wrong but that's what I've heard. I never heard he was the most popular player in baseball either, I think that's a subjective opinion.

Bill Laimbeer (In fact all the bad boy era Pissed-ons except for Joe Dumars and possibly Long Tall Salley)
Roger Clemens
Terrell Owens
Waren Sapp
Bill Romanowski
Stephon Marbury

Nobody likes Stephon, he's just a plain old douchebag, on your favorite team or not.

Darius Kasparitus, for anyone that does not hate hockey, was like this. Claude Lemiuex, too.

Kevin Brown, someone mentioned earlier, is definitely in this category. What a colossal ass he is, but when he's healthy, he's got great stuff.

Steve Carlton was a douchebag.

So was Kareem.

Carl Everett, maybe, but, he might simply fall into the "he's crazy" category with Milton Bradley, Rob Dibble and John Rocker.

Larry Walker, supposedly, is not exactly beloved by teammates, but he can hit, so that cures a lot of ills. Sorry, Chizip.

Chad Johnson on the Bengals is a clueless freak of a player.

I am a Yankee fan, so this pains me to say, but, we have the douchebag market cornered....between Brown, Sheffield, A-Rod, Wright, Randy Johnson and the gutless but really cerebral Mike Mussina...who refuses to ever hit a batter to protect his teammates....our cup overfloweth with douche.
