All the scouting reports said that Darko was a versatile player who had serious power but also could hit for average. Plus he was a defensive force who could play three positions.

this is going to be a boring season

there really is no threat to the cardinals for the nl central this year

i wish the playoffs would just get here already

had my first chance to go to Wrigley and watch a game this saturday, real cool experience

it was 35 degrees without the wind chill and snow flakes were falling, but it was worth it. Now back to my flu....

The draft in baseball is much more a crapshoot than football or basketball...many top overall picks never pan out, and you often see guys drafted at ridiculously high numbers like Pooholes not only make it, but sometimes become hall of famers (what number was Piazza in the draft, he was like the 3,765,981st pick and only got selected cause Lasorda was a family friend or something as I recall)

1,390th overall pick... 62nd round of the '88 draft. lasorda is mike's brother's godfather and long time friend of mike's father... thus the only reason why the greatest offensive catcher of all time (let's not discuss his throwing ability) would never have even set foot on a major league field.

here's your major league baseball stat of the day...

Roger Clemens has started 4 games...

In those 4 games, in which he's pitched 7 innings in each game, he's allowed just 1 run for an era of 0.32.

In those 4 starts, the Astros have scored a grand total of 3 runs...

as amazing as that is for Clemens, and as pathetic as it is for Houston's offense... it gets worse... Roger also has 2 RBIs this year.

Of the 3 damned runs the Astros have scored when Roger pitches, he's driven in two of 'em.

Houston wants some big bats, and I can't quite see them giving up Clemens for a handful of beans (sort of what the D-Backs did with Curt Schilling).

they're paying him like 22 million a year and he'll probably retire at the end of the year... i'm sure, if he wants to be dealt, he would be. question is wether or not he wants to be
