There's good and bad in every genre, to say that one genre or group of music is "all bad" is ridiculous, biggoted, and narrow minded. Open up your mind and perspective, there's a whole world of music waiting out there that will blow you away.

I do agree with you, but the two genres that I've mentioned above REALLY get to me. I really don't like them, and believe me, I've heard a lot of it since I worked in a club where it was played regularly. There are loads of other genres (like rap for instance) where I don't like a lot of the stuff, but there's also some stuff that I do like. That's why I haven't mentioned that one...

While I agree that most "HIP HOP" today is trash (especially the stuff from the past 5-10 years - which is all POP trash) there are some VERY good hip-hop artists that are more than worth a listen. |

There probably is good music in every genre (even though it might not fit my personal taste), but I have yet to find any in the "faith-based music" genre. Everything I've heard of it (although I certainly do not go out of my way to listen to it) is pure dreck. Blech!

Yeah, I'm with those who don't agree with totally dismissing an entire genre of music. Sure, there's some genres I don't listen to as much as others, but there's good and bad stuff in all genres. And all genres should be considered valid musical forms. Angela |

Modern Country is horrid.... (Johnny Cash rules though).
Norteno and Ranchero music is also awful. |

I can't think of any genre of music where there isn't at least a few artists or songs I like, with the possible exception of bubblegum teen pop.

Anyone who dismisses entire genres are as closed minded as anyone who dismisses entire races, religions, or ethnic groups...
1. Rap is the result of under privileged urban kids who couldn't afford guitars and produced music by using what was available to them. Public Enemy, Disposable Heroes, Beastie Boys, Fugees have all made good music. 2. John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Billie Holiday...enough said. 3. Not a genre I listen to that much, but many have some of the most technical musicians around. 4. Tommy, Rent, Phantom you're going to dismiss all of them? Ridiculous ![]() |

I really dislike country and rap. I can stand pretty much anything else.

I like a little bit from pretty much every genre, but I think I'd draw the line at death metal, and perhaps the extreme form of "experimental" jazz.

Rap, country, pop(except u2's pop of course), and that today's rock music(i.e. bands like fall out boy and yellow card), and finally that screaming heavy metal rock where every song sounds the same
