and now that I think about it......"In Rainbows" is a pretty bad album tittle :hmm:

It made me think of Mariah Carey the first time I heard it,

The woman names her albums as if she was a seven-year-old girl in her "pink" phase: Butterfly, Rainbow, Glitter, Charmbracelet,

I always wondered about that case (Mariah) too! You forgot "Emotions", "Music Box", "Daydream". But the title for the new album is soooooooooo bad.

It seems that artists and bands are in lack of imagination and with a very bad taste for album names:
- E=MC2
- Hard Candy
- Viva La Vida etc

Mariah Carey - In Rainbows !!!

Yeah, now that you mention it... she does name all her albums like a little girl's favorite things.

E=MC²?

Albert Einstein and Mariah Carey - a natural pairing huh,

Means, "Emancipation Equals Mariah Carey to the Second Power"...

...of all of the titles I've been bashing this is easily the worst one!...
Mariah, go home, make some kids...

The fact is that Mariah gives no longer girlish titles to her albuns (see last album) and she's emancipated (that means... Mariah's got boobs now).

:eyebrow:

I hope this album is as good as A Rush of Blood to the Head. X&Y sucked, so hopefully it's nothing like it.

The album title sucks too, BTW.

That's all I have for now. See you when it comes out.

It's a great album title. I'm intrigued as to whether the English translation is something that Coldplay are getting at.

"Long Live Life Or Death And All His Friends"

A choice between life and death. Who are Death's friends?

I think it's more of a Dr Strangelove kind of thing than just one title.

First speculated official tracklisting from some Dutch website that sells CDs:

Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends

1. Violet Hill
2. 42
3. Yes
4. Death And All His Friends
5. Cemeteries Of London
6. Life In Technicolor
7. Chinese Sleep Chant
8. Strawberry Swing
9. Reign Of Love

Where's Prospekt's March, Famous Old Painters, Glass of Water and Leftrightleftright? Really liked those song titles.

At least Strawberry Swing is there...

Oh, and 5 more rumoured song titles:

Double Sunset
Snow Covered Window
Sleeping On The Minefield
Forward In Time
The Let Out Cry

We have a tracklisting...10 tracks...check out this article from this website which seems as if it's the the coldplay version of interference.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

The official tracklisting to Coldplay's fourth album is now officially announced. Interestingly, the album appears to be called 'Viva La Vida'. Prospekt says:

The powers-that-be tell me it'll be available for general consumption on June 16/17, depending on where you live. We'll try to release a track or two before then...
Prospekt.

The tracklisting is as follows:

Life In Technicolor
Cemeteries Of London
Lost!
42
Lovers In Japan/Reign Of Love
Yes
Viva La Vida
Violet Hill
Strawberry Swing
Death And All His Friends

----------------------------------------------------------------

And some other body of text from the same website that gives hints as to how the tracks sound:

----------------------------------------------------------------

Coldplay lets its creative flag fly on its fourth studio album, "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends," due June 17 via Capitol. "We're still obsessed with making songs that can be sung to the rafters," frontman Chris Martin says. "We just wanted to present them differently."

To accomplish that goal, the group turned to co-producers Brian Eno and Markus Dravs, who adorn the material with grandiose embellishments the likes of which have never been heard before on a Coldplay album. "Viva La Vida" begins with a strident instrumental, "Life in Technicolor," built as much on an arpeggiated synth foundation as it is on an acoustic guitar melody. The same instrumental is tacked onto the final song, "Death and All His Friends," as a hidden track dubbed "The Escapist."

In between, the band frequently breaks from verse-chorus-verse constructions, particularly on "42," which is comprised of three distinct, seemingly unrelated sections. "Yes" shifts from a string- and tabla-driven rocker into a shoegazer-y breakdown, while a funky groove emerges from out of nowhere in the middle of "Death and All His Friends."

Elsewhere, Martin and the piano are at the forefront of the shimmering "Reign of Love," while "Cemeteries of London" conjures a foreboding vibe apropos of its title and "Lost!" swells with massive-sounding church organ strains. Drummer Will Champion credits Eno with upending Coldplay's usual working habits in the studio. "Brian has this amazing ability to demystify wonderful music and make it seem very achievable," he says. "We weren't afraid to try anything."

Coldplay recorded a number of other songs that did not wind up making the final track list, including "Postcards From Far Away," "Lukas," "Rainy Day," "The Goldrush" and "Now My Feet Won't Touch the Ground," but it's unknown if they will be released in some form down the road.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Strawberry Swing is the most intrguing song title I've heard in some time.......2 months to go!

There also seems to be some more uncertainty as to the album title, whether it is the rather dull "Viva La Vida", or whether it's the cryptic "Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends." Please be the lattter.....
