Radiohead - "How To Disappear Completely"

I wondered about adding that when I made my list. On some level it is sad, but on another level, there's a magnificent release in being able to disappear from the world, your situation, your humanness. The only thing I'm sure that "How to Disappear Completely" is, is beautiful and breathtaking. :hmm: Just some food for thought. I could talk about that song all day.

Alright:

Tears In Heaven - Eric Clapton

So Cruel - U2

Sail To The Moon - Radiohead

That's Why They Call It The Blues - Elton John

Ultra Violet - U2

Mothers Of The Disappeared - U2

Imagine - John Lennon (just cos it was close to his death)

Yesterday - The Beatles

Every Breathe You Take - The Police

If God Will Send His Angels - U2

Two Shots Of Happy, One Shot of Sad - U2

that is a beautiful photo in your signature Strato Edge Caster, Strats:)

Everybody Hurts was the first song that popped into my head re. this topic. I see a couple of other ppl feel the same:( and the inclusion of Annie Lennox makes me realise I must put more effort into finding a Eurythmics CD. I only have them on tape. Annie=great singer imho.

I know now why Beth Orton's "Devil Song" is so sad.
Em
I love Eminor. It always tugs very heavily on my heart strings:heart:

Hurt - by Trent Reznor

I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that's real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But I remember everything

What have I become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end
You could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

I wear this crown of thorns
Upon my liar's chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Beneath the stain of time
The feelings disappear
You are someone else
I am still right here

What have I become?
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know
Goes away in the end
You could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt

If I could start again
A million miles away
I would keep myself
I would find a way

Horse Tears - by Goldfrapp
Night has fallen
Mute and cold
My horse is crying

But you know all this time
But you know all this time
That you'd never want
Keep you still
Dare to come
But you love me still
But you love me
Tears too cold

La la la la la la la la la la la la ...

You have damaged (?)
And you're the one
That you're forever
In distance ("indistinct" ??)
But you know
That there's strength
And you love a man
Who stewed out these tears
???
That you love the tears
And you love the tears
???

La la la la la la la la la la la la ...

behind blue eyes- the who
working class hero- john lennon
black- pearl jam
the drugs don't work- the verve
my city of ruins- bruce springsteen

(just like) starting over- john lennon...
Our life together is so precious together
We have grown, we have grown
Although our love is still special
Let's take a chance and fly away somewhere alone

It's been too long since we took the time
No-one's to blame, I know time flies so quickly
But when I see you darling
It's like we both are falling in love again
It'll be just like starting over, starting over

Everyday we used to make it love
Why can't we be making love nice and easy
It's time to spread our wings and fly
Don't let another day go by my love
It'll be just like starting over, starting over

Why don't we take off alone
Take a trip somewhere far, far away
We'll be together all alone again
Like we used to in the early days
Well, well, well darling

It's been too long since we took the time
No-one's to blame, I know time flies so quickly
But when I see you darling
It's like we both are falling in love again
It'll be just like starting over, starting over

Our life together is so precious together
We have grown, we have grown
Although our love is still special
Let's take a chance and fly away somewhere

Starting over

a week after this song was released, a song looking towards a beautiful future, Lennon was shot dead by Mark David Chapman.

Heard it again today and I was reminded again how sad the song is:
Bruce Springsteen - Independence Day

(in fact, 1/3 to half of Bruce's output is sad songs, so plenty of choice there)
