The are actually very easy to do.

The trick is to find the right sized pumpkin for the pattern you want and when you hollow out your pumpkin make sure the side that is going to have the pattern is thin enough to carve through easily.

with my luck i would end up carving my hand instead of the pumpkin.

Ok...they are easy....you can buy the basic pumpkin carving kit anywhere halloween stuff is sold.

Try to find a pattern that says easy and/or beginner.
