we all know the great america and european bands.

But who do us Canadians have to offer?

all of these should be checked out:

The Constantines
A.C. Newman
Rufus Wainwright
The New Pornographers
Hawksley Workman
Godspeed You Black Emperor!
Royal City
Sarah Slean
Neko Case
Tegan and Sara
The Rheostatics

and then there are the bands that canadian frat boys listen to when they drink beer:

The Tragically Hip
Blue Rodeo
The Tea Party

I got to go to work, but I know I'm missing some good bands

Avril Lavigne

just kidding, I like a lot Godspeed You! Black Emperor and New Pornographers

ummm...yeah.

the stills

and some other band, i think they're called rush. or something like that.

Listen to the HOS. Du HOS!

Good call with the Godspeed basstrap.

However, this thread is crying out for:

Broken Social Scene

and

my band, when I form it.

:sexywink:

Haha...I was actually gonna say that whatever band Cujo's in is my favorite one from Canada.

:sexywink:

Basstrap should be dragged from his home and through the gutter before being publically mocked and humiliated and then sentanced to a life-term in a nearby prison for failing to mention Broken Social Scene.

yes broken social scene!

HAYDEN

and tea party?
why wouldn't you expect them to be frat material?
Easy to like rock music with a kind of doors vibe.

At any rate, none of their albums are good besides for a few songs. That';s why it's best just to get Tangents. and when Scott Stapp joins them (if) I will completely forsake them

I know.

I accept my fate

I was never the one to turn down kisses.

Just ask EP there!

And I want to shoot myself for not saying leonard cohen.

What the hell? I've never heard anybody listen to the Tea Party since grade 7.

It seems that everyone forgot RUSH! The top 2 bands in Canada are The Hip and Rush...I can't believe nobody mentioned them!

Everyone also needs to check out the following:
- Pilate
- The Joel Plaskett Emergency
- The Trews
- Matt Mays and El Torpedo
- Hawksley Workman

HOS and mofo both mentioned Rush...

Ron Sexsmith
Cowboy Junkies
Daniel Lanois
Joni Mitchell
Jane Siberry

Rush is the single worst band in the history of music. Noone from any corner of the globe, has a more awful voice than Geddy Lee.

The Hip are incredibly bland too. They're respectable to an extent, ofcourse, but have not progressed to the best of my hearing abilities.

I would agree with the Rush comment... for the first 20 years of my life I detested them, but as of late I'm finding more appealing tracks. If you go beyond the mainstay singles, there's some interesting songs. Same goes for the Hip.

And HG,

*plays theme to Oklahoma!, but rocked up like a placebo cover.

Moxy Fruvous
Crash Test Dummies

However we get to blame Canada for Alanis, Celine, and Loverboy.

...and :madspit: I liked the Edges of Twilight and Transmission-era Tea Party, wasn't sure what to do with TRIPtych, still getting into IZM...

As for Seven Circles...REALLY don't like Bob @%$*$# Rock's nasty slimy touch all over the new single Writing's on the Wall. If I wanted to listen to RATM meets STP I'd play Velvet Revolver.
