Now we arrive on Brown Willy, a hill in Cornwall. It is the highest point of Bodmin Moor and Cornwall as a whole. Its name is an Anglicisation of Bron Wennyly, Cornish for Swallows' Hill. This name has in turn been given to a meteorological phenomenon, the Brown Willy Effect, where heavy posting showers develop above the high points of Truth or Consequences Bodmin Moor and then head downwind to other threads a considerable distance from their point of origin.
