Even if she just stood in one place singing a ballad it would have been so much better. All her agents, PR people, stylists, everybody, should be fired. If she truly wants to make a comeback she needs to surround herself with grown ups that aren't stupid.

agreed.

As for Sarah Silverman, i thought her comments were definitely out of line. I think it's crappy that MTV would have Britney as a performer on their show and then let Sarah Silverman rip her to shreds right afterwards. It was definitely in poor taste.
Comedian hosts of this show making fun of the performers is not exactly a new phenomenon.

(Anyone remember Chris Rock saying Bono looked like the unabomber?)

is just plain moronic to blaim Sarah Silverman for what happened to Britney...

Sarah or no Sarah, the thing was gonna blow anyway, and that's why we all watched...

and admit it, you all laughed at the "two cuttest mistakes I've ever seen" joke

In other VMA news..

LAS VEGAS — Kid Rock was cited by police for misdemeanor battery after a tussle with Tommy Lee in the audience at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The 36-year-old rock-rapper received the citation after police reported to the Palms Hotel and Casino shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday and interviewed people at the scene, Officer Bill Cassell said.

Kid Rock wasn't taken into custody, he said.

Both Lee and Kid Rock are ex-husbands of Pamela Anderson, who was a presenter at the show.

MTV VJ Sway said during the post-show that he saw Kid Rock walk up to the 44-year-old Motley Crue drummer, who was sitting next to Sean "Diddy" Combs, and "deck him."

Another eyewitness, rap producer Rich Nice, said although Kid Rock threw the only blows that landed, a backhand slap and a punch, Lee was the instigator.

"It looked like Tommy Lee initiated it because Kid Rock was ignoring him," said Nice, who was two tables away. "And Tommy Lee kind of antagonized him. And then when Tommy Lee stood up, it looked a little weird, like `Yo, what?'"

"When Tommy stands up is when Kid hit him the first time with a backhand," Nice continued. "And then Tommy Lee looked like he was trying to get at him to aggressively retaliate and then Kid Rock hits Tommy Lee again _ bong. And then security grabs Tommy Lee in a headlock and pulls him off."

Security guards let Kid Rock stay for the rest of the show while Lee was dragged out.

Cassell said Kid Rock could face up to six months in jail, but that it would be uncommon for someone facing similar charges to receive such a lengthy sentence.

Let me second that - if she were just a normal mother of two from Louisiana, people would be commenting on how fabulous she looks. But because she's Britney Spears, she's getting blasted for it because her career was built basically on her looks and toned body.

My only issue with this was that she obviously didn't look like she felt comfortable which is why I was saying it's okay to wear clothes once and a while...

with the exception of the dreadful "it's britney, bitch" begining, it's actually a little catchy.

I agree. I like the song but think that opening line is stupid.

I like Britney, I was hoping this would be an awesome, "Wow, she's back!" performance. It was so half-hearted though...pretty disappointing.

I've been reading elsewhere on the internet that people are slagging off on her for being fat. Man, I wish I was fat. Yeah, she's not as toned as she's been in the past, but I still think she looks good.

I didn't hear the song. I thought 'The Simpsons' and 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' would be more worth my time than the the VMAs.

There was a time when the VMAs were an entertaining program to watch each year.

And then, as MTV sunk, so sunk the VMAs. First, they were sort of a 'it's fun to watch to see how bad it is' kind of thing.

And then, in the last few years, they finally got to a point where they're just plan terrible, an embarassment to society.

I caught about two minutes of the re-cast of the show immediatly following the first run - basically, I saw Rhianna win an award and accept it, as well as Alicia Keys acting as some sort of MC for the new format MTV tried this year - the show alternated between four different 'parties' where the majority of the performances were.

MTV supposedly made a concerted effort this year to 're-invent' the VMAs because the ratings have been so bad the past few years. The molded the show into the new 'party' format, and centered the show more around performances than awards.

Of course, that's the way it's always been, it's just that they're not pretending it's about the awards anymore.

Nothing's changed really. It's still just the same hype-driven display of what MTV thinks the teenagers of America currently think is good music that it's always been.

It's a shame that MTV can't realize that the reason for the bad ratings never had anything to do with format or distribution between performances and awards, and that it had everything to do with the absolute lack of any worthwhile music on the show.

Part of me says, get Arcade Fire/Radiohead/Feist/RHCP/The Muse/Sigur Ros/The Who(since they recently put a new record out)/etc etc etc to come to the VMAs and revive the thing, but the other half of me says that these bands, bands that actually make interesting music, should as far the hell away from the VMAs as they can.

A mother of two, and that's a fat body ?

Not surprising given the anorexic trends in women figure in the past few years.

Yes, that's a sad state of affairs to call her "fat". I know she has been so renowned for her beautiful body, but that's still completely ridiculous. And not healthy for females.

she's "fat' compared to the expectations that are in place for singing/dancing performers who are in near-Olympic calibur shape and are surrounded by team of personal chefs, trainers, and masseusses.

if i had all that money, and i was going to be on TV in a bathing suit, and i had nothing else to do all day but get into shape, you can be sure that i'd look damn good.

and if i didn't, i would fire the idiot who thought i should bust out a freaking bikini!

^ that actually makes me a little sad.

poor thing. her mother should be jailed.

What can her mother really do, though? Britney didn't act like this as a teenager and at the beginning of her career when her parents still legally had control over her. She's a 25 year old mother of 2 herself. Britney can't blame anyone for her problems but Britney, and this is coming from someone who feels bad for her also. She needs help, but like anyone else she won't be able to get it until she admits she has problems and stops blaming other people for her own mistakes and poor choices.

What did Britney's mom do? I get the impression that Britney's family has tried to help her, but it seems like Britney has no interest in helping herself.

Now Dina Lohan, on the other hand ...

Aaaaaaand of course now Perez is reporting no one knew what Sarah's jokes were going to be beforehand except Sarah...

We knew it! We knew it! We knew it!

The “excuses” for Britney’s soul-crushing VMA performance are flying fast and furiously.

Blame everyone but the fuck-up, right?

One of the most falsely reported accusations is that Britney overheard that comedian Sarah Silverman was going to make fun of her two kids - calling them “beautiful mistakes” - which apparently enraged her.

Spin! Spin! Spin! Bullshit!

Not true, Silverman’s rep, Lewis Kay, tells PerezHilton.com.

“Sarah did nothing but react to Britney’s actions in a comical way, which is what she was asked to do,” Silverman’s publicist tells us.

Additionally, production sources confirm to PerezHilton.com that no one knew Sarah’s material before she performed it. “There was no MTV script approval,” says a show insider. “The only person who knew what Sarah was going to say was Sarah. When she rehearse she even said, ‘Joke. Joke. Joke. 50 Cent. Britney Spears. Etc.’ And she only mentioned the names of the people that she was going to talk about. No one ever heard her material before it aired.”

There is no way possible Britney or anyone in her camp ever knew what Sarah was going to talk about, sources tell us. It’s an outright fabrication!

Also, as has been widely and falsely reported, no one from Britney’s camp confronted Siverman after her fucking funny segment.

MTV is the one that put Silverman on after Britney. They knew what they were doing!!!

You know what? After all this shit that's been going on with Britney, I'm scared for the girl. She looks like she's headed for a fatal tragedy.

This is probably one of my favorite VMA crazy moments other than R. Kelly performing Trapped in a Closet and going batshit insane.

I missed this last night , but have since viewed it on Youtube...her performance was a sad display of un-preparedness*word?...she was just trying to remember where she should go next..and then a flicker of remembering...then going through the motions...someone said a few postsw back...it looked like she thought she was in a dress-rehearsal...I agree with that...but for those who are critisizing her body??? give me a break...she looks pretty damn good for jsut having 2 babies in such a short period of time...she is still a baby herself if you think about it.....but maybe she should have chosen a different outfit so that the buzzards would not have swarmed her:|
