for a minute I must have convinced myself I was in the netherlands, cos I just read your post marty and thought 'ooh blimey, it's midnight, I'd better go to bed!'

then I remembered that I'm in a different time zone to you

Maybe I should go to bed after all..........:|

I leave for 4 hours and we're already into a new testje?!

oh well. :hyper:

I'm eating sushi

and after that, I'll have some cookie dough ice cream

For some strange reason, Tomer's "dancing blob" (a.k.a. his avatar) made laugh a lot despite the fact that I fel very angry and pissed off at the moment.

Thanks. :)

 another testje thread and i just read all the pages :crack:

I think the Dutch variant is a bit different. Yes, they are very small cookies with spices, but we don't eat them for Christmas. At the beginning of December (5 December to be exact), we have another feast, the feast of Saint Nicholas. It is customary to eat those pepernoten then.

More info about the Dutch feast here: http://www.stnicholascenter.org/Brix?pageID=92

:D

i celebrate st. nicholas day too. i'm not sure if it's because of my catholic or german heritage or both. but i remember when we were kids my mom would leave us a present on st. nicholas day :cute: it was usually just a small one, the rest we got at christmas.

i'm curios about that pepernoten though too :hmm:
