We've had a best opening lines, not sure about this one, but its started now.

"Together we stand, divided we fall." Hey You, Pink Floyd

"Mother did it need to be so high...." Mother, Pink Floyd

"Oh don't sorrow no don't weep, for tonight, at last, I am coming home, I am coming home." A Sort of Homecoming, U2

"She will suffer the needle chill, she's running to stand still." Running to Stand Still, U2

Is this the part where I get to go all Ryan Adams on everyone?

Excellent...

These girls are better off in my head - "These Girls"

Just three words, my love...you meant everything - "English Girls Approximately"

I think that I've fallen out of love with you - "Dear Chicago"

I can never get close enough to you - "Cherry Lane"

Also

And in the end
The love you take
Is equal to the love you make.

Ooh, I love closing lines. Two of my favourites, both similar in a way.

"And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make" - The Beatles, The End

"Ashes and diamonds, foe and friend, we were all equal in the end" - Pink Floyd, Two Suns In The Sunset

EDIT: Damn it, you beat me to The End! :(

You float up high and it isn't a sin
And there isn't a hell where we'll be sent
There's only now, and there isn't then
So just breathe it in.

"Some die just to live"

"Today has been the most perfect day I ever seen."

"If I can't be my own, I'd feel better dead."

"'Cause if my baby don't love me no more... I know her sister will!" (the most hilarious closing line ever)

"There's a lot of things... If I could I'd rearrange."

"You were just the air I needed
Or you were my love depleted
Careful, careful the trees are falling down" --Attached at the Mouth by Loudermilk.

For tonight, at last, I am coming home - A Sort of Homecoming, U2

I raised these walls and I will be the one to knock them down - World Leader Pretend, R.E.M.

God only knows what I'd be without you - God only knows, The Beach Boys

Oh, come, come be my waitress and serve me tonight
Serve me the sky tonight
Oh, come, come be my waitress and serve me tonight
Serve me the sky with a big slice of lemon

and

So worry not
All things are well
We'll be alright
We have our looks and perfume on

Strength and courage overrides
the privileged and weary eyes
of river poet search naivete.
Pick up here and chase the ride.
The river empties to the tide.
All of this is coming your way.

-Find the River, REM

I don't believe in painted roses or bleeding hearts
While bullets rape the night of the merciful
I'll see you again when the stars fall from the sky
And the moon has turned red over one tree hill
We run like a river to the sea
Like a river to the sea

-One Tree Hill, U2

And I of course agree with ASOH. :)

oh and ....

Girls - to do the dishes
Girls - to clean up my room
Girls - to do the laundry
Girls - and in the bathroom
Girls - that's all I really want is girls
Two at a time - I want girls
With new wave hairdos - I want girls
I ought to whip out my - girls, girls, girls, girls, girls!

I'm fairly certain we did have a thread like this quite a while ago, because I believe this was my contribution:

"It's a town full of losers and I'm pulling out of here to win."

I indeed think we had.
And the second line I came up with was also Bruce Springsteen - Thunder Road.

My personal favourite closing line, the line which makes the song my favourite song ever (and probably my contribution to that earlier thread) is:
There's a bit of magic in everything
And then some loss to even things out

(from Lou Reed - Magic And Loss)

WRONG!

Oh great ocean
Oh great sea
Run to the ocean
Run to the sea

though to be fair it probably would have been better if he ended with "Fuck it up boys, let's make some noise."

That song was killer live.

Yes and as I recall my contribution was:
"Look I'll pay you for it, what the f*ck".

"Just the bang
And the clatter
As an angel hits the ground"

"I'll always be king of pain"

"It has to start somewhere
It has to start some time
What better place than here
What better time than now?
All!
Hell!
Can't stop us now!..."
