RCA dome = also kickass cept the damn helmet *kicks it*
and the loudspeaker that's like "there are no guns, firearms, or explosives allowed inside the RCA dome"
aaand the evil factory
*stops that*

all of the staff had to work for free the first week of band last year because we didn't get enough funding :|

All of the bands in finals were big bands..they were on in the biggest size class! Little bands just cant make it there  the grand champion was lassiter..they had 4 feild commanders and like took up the entire feild just walking out on it..

lol yeah and as you walk from your buses to the place you warm up in (get to go through the air lock thing!) they play what you aren't alowed to have...one of the things they said is porn..all you band geeks dont bring your porn into grand nats..my sister bought this little flag and they made her break it becasue it was on a stick! riiight..

I quit the clarinet in 5th grade because I heard that if you were in band in middle school, you had to have sex on the buses. :|

:lmao: That's hilarious!

Unfortunately, I don't have any very scandalous band stories. We went on spring break trips every other year, and that's when crazy things would happen but nothing too exciting. We weren't allowed to have members of the opposite sex in our rooms because they were afraid we'd all be having crazy sex.

Uh, the only scandalous story I have is one guy's pants fell down during basics... and he was a drummer and thusly had to have someone take his drum so he could pull his pants back up.
I passed out on the field my first day of band camp.
I hate band camp.
I hate band practice.
I just liked winning all the competitions :D
We didn't have a section leader per se my senior year cos the official one was a wuss so we formed a section council. Jazz, ditto, same girl had seniority but me and her ran the sax section. I played flute for gunslinging bird for like 5 seconds. Only flute I've ever played. Jazz band kicked ass, we started having a swing dance my junior year and when we finished our last set the crowd wouldn't stop clapping and chanting "we want more!" til we played an encore... I was totally blown away, I'm like "dude, people that aren't our parents... encore... aahhh."
Played trumpet for pep band one year...
yes, well that was a nice train of thought random post.

i quit cos i was an arrogant little jerk who didn't want to be bumped down to second chair...

and i hated the music we were playing...something from a disney movie, that's all i remember...technically i practised, but i wouldn't play the band music cos i bought a book of beatles songs for the trumpet and would play those instead

I got to music camp every year. But now its shut down
our school has one now
im in 3 bands at my school (band, jazz band, symphony) and one outta school
I might be joining TYCW (toronto youth concert winds)
I play alot of instruments. I am the ultimate band geek
go me

Awww! Band geeks rule!

I graduated in 2001 and I played the tenor sax. My school was really big on jazz band - we went to state 3 of my 4 years in high school and placed 4th one year. Our sax section kicked ass! We would always clean up on solo awards - it was great. One year at one of the jazz festivals, we got into trouble for throwing paper airplanes over the balcony in the lobby. Somebody came up to chew us out, but we blammed it on our arch-rival school. :mac:

And then during my senior year when we were coming back from state marching band contest, one of our quads players decided it would be cool to moon the people in the car behind us. He did it, and the car followed us all the way to the school. Turns out the people in the car were our former superintendent and his wife.

And you know those big ol' shoulder harness thingies that bass drum players wear in marching band? Well, during my freshman year, the seniors in the drumline took one of my freshman friends in the drumline (a very tiny guy at the time) and duct taped him into the harness and put the harness over a really high coat rack. He was kickin' and laughin' and screamin'...it was feckin' hilarious!

Oooh! Oooh! And on overnight trips, we used to steal those fake trees from the lobbies of hotels and dress them up in bras and stuff and put them back or put them in people's showers. Hehe!

In pep band our 'school song' was "China Grove" by the Doobie Brothers.

*sigh* memories.... :)

 oh yeah the good old Lassiter H.S. Trojan Marching Band! lol that school is my rival high school. they are 10 mins from my high school and kicked our ass every year when we would compete. they have dominated the marching band circuit prior to the early 90's. my old friend from high school is now their color guard instructor, she was in the Santa Clara Vanguard and Cadets of Burgen *sp* County drum corps. most of the instructors for the band are or were in the best drum corps and most of the kids in the band are in drum corps. they always do a top show and should be a drum corp on their own.

I played trumpet. Seems like forever ago...guess it sort of was. Anyway, it was fun but scary because the mantra was 'pain is your friend' and we'd have to run laps and do all sorts of crazy stuff. Too many damn dci instructors there.

played clarinet. was first chair which wasn't hard because there were only 25 of us in marching band. it was pretty sad. not too many scandalous stories about band camp. a friend got drunk on a band trip and we had him stuck in our room for hours until the chaperones fell asleep in the hallway.

and oh god! if I ever have to listen to any songs from the Wizard of Oz I'm gonna scream. although I did get a cool solo in "Sweet Child of Mine."

am i the only one in here who was in the color guard?

I was. In 8th grade for 2 weeks..but i was so bad at it i quit because i felt bad for the instructor having to spend so much time with me. Now the only colorguard interaction i have in it is i got hit in the head with a flag toward the end of the show..

and not on the colorguard subject but our school fight song is the notre dame fight song. how lame is that? and at football games we play that, Louie Louie, mony mony, and best disco in town (what a dumb song that is!)

Played Clarinet....
Taught Myself Saxaphone and Flute....
Learned the Piano......
My left hand is a semester behind my right hand. Car wreck and cast.

I joined the local union in the 8th grade and played in the Budweiser band.....I hated marching for the high school, so getting payed was pretty cool. Played with them until freshman year in college. Bad Beer.

Toured Scotland and England with a Jazz Band. Great Beer.

Studied at the New England Conservatory Prep School 9-12th grade.

Played in the Olympic Stadium in Munich, Germany. Great beer! Borrowed a mug.

Played in Symphony Hall in Boston.

Was accepted to Oberlin, New England Conservatory, Boston Conservatory, and Eastman School of Music.

Quit!!!!!!! Have not played since my parents divorce other than for my sister's graduation, a friend's wedding, and my grandmother's 80th birthday.

Peace Out!
