is popcorn unhealthy?

ok, we're talking about popcorn made with very little oil here. popcorn swimming in oil and butter is obviously unhealthy.

i keep hearing people saying different things, so i might as well ask here.

?

I dunno but there's this guy I work with who makes a bag of microwave butter popcorn at 10am every single day and eats it every single day.

microwave popcorn are definitely unhealthy. the fat used is extremely dangerous.

I think air popped popcorn or popcorn made with just a bit of oil is considered fairly healthy. Of course if you eat scads of it, it isn't so healthy.

My oldest brother is a total health nut but every now and then he will eat popcorn that way

Know the buttery kind is bad for you but it still tastes so good

:corn: I have an air popper so that's what I use if I want popcorn, that way I control what goes on top of it.

 I have one of these

But then I dump all kinds of butter and salt on it

If it's real butter it's not so bad.

my friend makes some with herb infused olive oil on it

Pretty much corn just isn't a great food. They use it to fatten livestock.

i have one of those too.

what company made yours?

I'm pretty sure the company is West Bend. That's a new one there I posted.
Mine is OLD though.. my parents had it before me but it still works great.
It has these holes on the top to put the butter on while its popping  and it drips on the popcorn as its turning.

Dammit now I want popcorn

its funny that they show the machine popping corns with the lid on. its supposed to be off when the machine is popping so the heat can get away.

the title are make me twitch

I heard a VERY long time ago that eating a medium bag of movie theatre popcorn has the fat equivalent of eating three big macs. :yuck: I love it, but now I make sure I share my bag with someone who will eat most of it.

I want to meet the person that eats all 20 cups of movie popcorn.

*raises greasy hand*

I've actually gone back once for the free refill that comes with a large popcorn here. I forget what the movie was, but it must have really been something. I had no idea it was so awful and filled with deadly fats. Dear lord! :(

The Smart Pop stuff is the best home version.
