These are all pretty stellar. I haven't seen the rest.

Of all the ones I highlighted too, Rashomon is likely my favorite. For what it's worth.

I'd put Ikiru barely above it, but those are my two favorite Kurosawa.

I imagine, though, that another viewing of Ugetsu would put it ahead of both of them.

You might be right. My favorite Kurosawa is a recent first viewing of High and Low however. Wow.

I'm beyond excited for that course. That combined with a History of Animation seminar and writing course on the Coens will be epic. The required book for the Coens course only covers up to The Ladykillers, but I can't imagine not discussing anything after that.

The chapter covering Intolerable Cruelty and The Ladykillers is titled "Oh Brothers, Where Art Thou?" Pithy and awesome at the same time.

Oh and as glad as I am that Ryan Reynolds has broken out of the rom-com ghetto, he shouldn't be playing two superhero characters at the same time. I don't give a shit if they're from different universes, it just shouldn't happen:

The Zombieland writers being attached to Deadpool is fantastic news though.

Anything. Seriously, with the way things are now, just about anything will work. I don't really have a set career path at this point, so I just need to make ends meet in the meantime. 25K would be a nice place to start.

A good way to make a little money on the side would be to ref basketball. Doesn't require much time, pretty flexible with scheduling, and is surprisingly lucrative in a lot of leagues.

It would if it were Clemenza: Interference Random Movie Talk II

Yeah, I remembered. The casting of Michael's Sicily wife is even funnier now. And there really isn't any resemblance at all between Clemenza and I:

Well, the pitcher I guess.

re: the ref thing. Not a bad idea. I might look into it.

It's funny how many of the usual suspects were included in that even two years ago. Shouter, GAF, and Jive Turkey are probably due for the roles that didn't get filled. allbecauseofshuttlecock can be the horse's head.

I also like that Laz was pre-death Jacko bashing on the very next page.

Now I have to think of him as a mix between the crying litter Injun Native American and Abe Vigoda. Far from a pleasant mental picture.

Wow. I have no recollection of coming up with that casting.

YLB's Fredo. He's smaht. He can do things.

I cast YLB's The Lady Friend™ as Michael's wife that gets blown up, which is fun.

That photo has been a pretty consistent source of comedy. It's my baby, much like "no need to add" jokes are Dalton's.

Good lord. An exchange from three pages later:

Lance said:
I'm a god at Badminton.

And that's about it.

Laz said:
Wow, you're a chip off the ol' shuttlecock.

Lance said:

Laz said:
No, it's mom that's been shuttlin' cock.

An instant classic. The finest Desert Island art of all time.

In the spirit of the whole Godfather recasting, I'm going through some old threads. I went to the point where No Net leaked, at which point Lance said:

Stand Up Cocktitude is pretty rad too I must say.

Care to go back on that?

Actually, nevermind. It looks like it was a favorite for several people off the bat, Scumbo and GAF included.

And uhhh movies movies in the brownie movies.

I've said some ridiculous things in my days. If we cared to go back and look at all of them... we'd be here for a while.

Well, I'm also the guy named after a Cockplay song originally, so I have no room to talk.

Wait, does this mean I invented Shuttlecock a year before I invented Shuttlecock?

I'm confused.
