Anyone seen the original Danish version of - The kingdom - that Lars von Trier made ??.. This is by far his best work.

Since i am from Denmark, then i have properly seen every movie that Lars have made, and most of it sucks. BUT he is original in everything he creates and thats why i still respect him.

No,, The original version has a Danish cast ( and one Swede  )

Jean marc barr might be in the American remake. I read somewhere that it was awful...

I never watched it though, it was suppose to take place in maine where I live

doesn't make it right no matter who it's coming from.

except those Canadians. those shifty, shifty Canadians :shifty:

Guess we have a lot of aspiring filmmakers on here. I'm surprised to see all the love for Sergio Leone, considering two of his best have only recently become available on DVD (in the US at least). I had to buy the laserdisc of A Fistful of Dynamite (Duck, You Sucker) just to see it again.

I tend to favor directors who have strong visual styles and a gift for composition (Spielberg excepted--he's a great shot maker but always compromises the integrity of his films). Other than Leone (who's close to the top), here are my other favs:

Orson Welles--In a class by himself. No other director is even close.

(no order)
Samuel Fuller
Martin Scorsese
The Coen Bros.
Anthony Minghella
Bernardo Bertolucci
Krystof Kieslowski
Spike Lee
Steven Soderbergh
Stanley Kubrick
Vincente Minnelli
Jacques Tourneur
Fritz Lang
Terrence Malick
and I totally forgot Wong Kar-Wai, shame on me.
