ACK to Taylor's first supposed song. Now there's a song that will bring out the worst of his annoying affectations. (i.e., any song that lets him be all "look how soulful I am! I really feel the music! Whoo!")

ALERT!!! SOME MORE SPOILERS!!!

The songs Clive Davis has picked out are....

For Taylor- Dancing in the Dark (B. Springsteen) I bet Bruce is just thrilled with this.

For Elliott- Open Arms (Journey)

For Katherine- I Believe I Can Fly (R. Kelley)

you beat me to it ljclary! I'm not sure how that Springsteen song will go over by Taylor  Eliott's should be good. Don't know the R.Kelly song well enough to have an opinion...

I'm curious to hear Taylor and Elliott sing those songs. I'm not looking forward to hearing Kat sing that awful song.

I just saw on CNN.com that Simon's made his prediction: Taylor!

Taylor to win? I think he's a little too freaky to be an "american idol"

but that's just me......

Kat picks the kiddie porn king, R Kelly? DUMB

She should sing that ridiculous song "Trapped in a Closet"

I thought Bruce expressly forbid his songs from being used on AI? Why change now?

I want Taylor to go away. Like yesterday.

**SPOILER**

Performance Order

Lastly, rumor has it, and this is UNCONFIRMED, that tonight's order will be (based on folks checking test phone lines-this seemed to pan out last week, but we'll see):

Elliott Yamin
Katharine McPhee
Taylor Hicks

Sounds like a goofy night shaping up

(It would be funny if Taylor did the Courtney Cox dance w/ Paula  )

Updated rumor....

ETA: Latest Elliott Yamin rumor regarding his personal song choice: Reliable sources are claiming that it's "I Believe to My Soul" by Ray Charles.

You might recall hearing it in the movie 'Ray'

I'm excited - I hope Elliott makes it to the finals... though for some strange reason I have a sense Taylor has it locked up :| (I like Taylor, just don't know if I want him to win)

great

we get to see Taylor do the 'drunk dad at a wedding" again.

^ is it weird that i find him ever-so-slightly attractive?

i thought he did well, given that he wasn't even allowed to sing the best parts of the song.

I heard he danced with Paula on that platform behind the judges. I heard (ok, read) on the AI boards that they seem nervous, and are all pretty close, performance rating-wise...

It just bugs me when Taylor keeps shouting 'Soul Patrol'. I like him and his voice, but there's something about him.... :der:

hell no, it's not
(charisma and cheese, make a nice sandwich)

I am not brave enough to admit who I find attractive.

actually, i thought Katherine was great.

her best performance remains that "someone who'll watch over me" becuase it honestly almost made me cry. but this was really good, and this further proves my theory that Simon is by far the smartest person either on the show or watching the show as it was a perfect song for her.

Kat was good but I hate when she throws the gratuitous run in. Randy was right about the R Kelly song. The melody was strong enough without the diva runs. I wish she had done World's Greatest instead.

the AI boards are agreeing with the judges in that her performance was great. I just have to wait a few more hours to see/hear it :der:

And to Irvine's question, no, NO U2 songs have been performed (thankfully) as far as I know.

i think Elliot is out.

Katherine vs. Taylor.

the teen girls who make up the majority of the audience will express solidarity with their sister -- Katherine wins.
