Estonian House is a two storey building from the 1920s, one of the larger buildings in its area, with a decent sized hall that's occasionally used for events, but I rarely see anything going on there ... wish they'd use it more for concerts because it'd be so handy for me!

Only been past Lithuanian House once, don't remember it, but occasionally some interesting noise/experimental music events seem to be held there.

Can't wait for the next tart with bunny ears to become bogan Australia's ambassador of insignificance.

Melbourne's Estonian House sounds very similar to the one in North Adelaide, big two/three storeys and vaguely art deco. I myself drive past the Latvian and Lithuanian Halls on the way to college - I've heard that the Lithuanian Hall makes the best comfort food you'll ever taste.

Some of the insightful comments coming as a result of the mere suggestion that Victoria's number plates say "Victoria - The Multicultural State":

Quote:
If Mr Kotsiras believes the term multiculturalism wouldn't be divisive, he is light years out of touch. Or is it simply a weak attempt at propaganda?
Quote:
In Europe, Germany and many other countries admit multiculturalism has been a failure.
Quote:
What, "celebrate" the failed experiment that has caused more division than any other socially engineered experiment in this country's history?
Quote:
Forget multiculturalism anything. It has been a total flop from the word go.
Quote:
Europe has acknowledged that multiculturalism is a failure. Why do people want to perpetuate this lie? The simple solution to anyone who wants to call Australia home - fit in or ship out.
Quote:
We have always been a nation of immigrants, but the wonderful thing is that we all become Australian. To promote multiculturalism will encourage many who don't wish to embrace the Aussie way of life to hide behind this banner and stay entrenched in their old countries' ways.
Funny, I must have missed that memo that the EU sent out saying multiculturalism failed continent-wide.

For whatever reason I imagine it would be hilarious if the Lithuanian and Polish houses were situated next to each other. Lots of patriotic hollering going around.

Those are abhorrent.

But I have a genuine problem with any one state being referred to as "The Multicultural State", when it's something that the entire country has strived to be. It makes it sound like every other state is a whitewash of Anglo bogans. And where does it put New South Wales?

Seriously, just go back to "The Garden State". "On the Move" didn't make sense, "The Place to Be" is arrogant (only saved by how much it reminds me of Frank Costanza), and this is... also kinda arrogant. Sorry, guys.

Oh, I completely agree. It's a stupid idea. Obviously I don't have a problem with "The Place to Be", arrogant though it is

I apologise for the intense editing I went with in my in my last post, too, I tried as hard as possible to not make it look like another South Australian looking for a reason to diss Victoria.

I think The Festival State is a little dumb too, anyway. If we don't have Splendour, we have no right to boast about festivals. Also, I want to get a "The Wine State" numberplate, head interstate, and see if someone graffitis an "h" in there.

Almost all the number plate slogans are a bit daft.

I love seeing NSW plates with "Towards 2000" still on them.
