Send some of that rain our way. We could use it here--I don't want all the pretty flowers that are coming up now to dry out.

*Ewen goes to a bar-b-que*

the host/hostess -> "come on folks, lets all gather under the gazebo and have some munchies"

Ewen -> "NO, LETS NOT GATHER UNDER THE GAZEBO, LETS BURN THE FECKIN GAZEBO.....THAT'S A LOT MORE FUN" :macdevil:

Hey, it's my 8500th post.

If anyone besides Ewen was ever really interested in the bidding wars for my round-numbered posts, I'd have auctioned it off.

Since that's not the case, I think I'll just have a glass of wine and party myself in the hot tub.

The screen door slams
Mary’s dress sways
Like a vision she dances across the porch
As the radio plays
Roy orbison singing for the lonely
Hey that’s me and I want you only
Don’t turn me home again
I just can’t face myself alone again
Don’t run back inside
Darling you know just what I’m here for
So you’re scared and you’re thinking
That maybe we ain’t that young anymore
Show a little faith, there’s magic in the night
You ain’t a beauty, but hey you’re alright
Oh and that’s alright with me

You can hide `neath your covers
And study your pain
Make crosses from your lovers
Throw roses in the rain
Waste your summer praying in vain
For a savior to rise from these streets
Well now I’m no hero
That’s understood
All the redemption I can offer, girl
Is beneath this dirty hood
With a chance to make it good somehow
Hey what else can we do now?
Except roll down the window
And let the wind blow
Back your hair
Well the night’s busting open
These two lanes will take us anywhere
We got one last chance to make it real
To trade in these wings on some wheels
Climb in back
Heaven’s waiting on down the tracks
Oh-oh come take my hand
Riding out tonight to case the promised land
Oh-oh thunder road, oh thunder road oh thunder road
Lying out there like a killer in the sun
Hey I know it’s late we can make it if we run
Oh thunder road, sit tight take hold
Thunder road

Well I got this guitar
And I learned how to make it talk
And my car’s out back
If you’re ready to take that long walk
From your front porch to my front seat
The door’s open but the ride it ain’t free
And I know you’re lonely
For words that I ain’t spoken
But tonight we’ll be free
All the promises’ll be broken
There were ghosts in the eyes
Of all the boys you sent away
They haunt this dusty beach road
In the skeleton frames of burned out chevrolets

They scream your name at night in the street
Your graduation gown lies in rags at their feet
And in the lonely cool before dawn
You hear their engines roaring on
But when you get to the porch they’re gone
On the wind, so mary climb in
It’s a town full of losers
And I’m pulling out of here to win.

Ewen, you would have LOVED the park we went to for lunch. You and I will definitely have to go there next week.

OMG next week

:crack:

A kestrel just flew into my living room window!!

I jumped clean off my chair because my window is not more than 2 feet from my monitor where I'm sat

It just glanced off at a shallow angle from my right hand side. I've just been watching it sat in a tree across the other side of my road. I bet it's got one hell of a headache!!

Not through the window! He/she/it glanced off it

It's gone now but I guess it just sat there for a bit recuperating and getting it's bearings.

Kestrels and other birds of prey are supposed to be the smarter of most birds, or so I'm led to believe. Trying to fly through a window to get to the blue sky they see reflecting in it is normally something only pigeons do :der:

Hey Alan:wave:

Did you check the bottom of wall were the window is? (If that made sense) If the bird is still there and not moving, throw a towel over it, pick up and put in a sturdy cardboard box (towel and all if you wish). Place cardboard box in dark, quiet and warm spot until you here movement that sounds like it is trying to get out (sort of scrabbling). Take box outside, open lid and step back. Bird will release itself. If you don't hear anything after about 30 mins, bird needs to go to vet.

Hope this helps (I do wildlife caring in my spare time).

Cheers,
