I can't remember how long ago it was now, but I'd say it was when YSI changed to the current site format, which I still think is worse than the original style (or maybe there was an older style, but I've only known the two). Ever since that style change, it has gotten progressively worse.
 
My guess would be that they wanted to make it a little more difficult for people to share files that certain big bad organizations don't want shared.
