No vote this time. I'm forcing this record on ya'll.

We will listen to the classic 1993 release of "Giant Steps" by The Boo Radleys.

One of the greatest experimental guitar pop records of all time.

This is quite simply one of the most amazing records ever recorded.
The finest record of the golden age of Brit-pop, by one of the era's best
bands. I have loved it since I first heard it 13 years ago. It's a melodic and
sonic assult of raging guitars, pop hooks, driving rhythms, and wild
sonic experiemtation. All driving home the song.

I won't be able to attend, but your description of the album has really piqued my interest!

as far as britpop goes, this record was pretty important, like 'screamadelica' in terms of it's statement and stretch. really blew people away.
if you want to gear up with some reviews and stuff (but don't cheat by listening), here's a cool site:

I Hang Suspended

A kicker of a lead track.

Guitars, guitars, guitars.

And probably the most sarcastic song I've ever heard.

Upon 9th And Fairchild

Kind of Regge/Dub/Cowboy song.

The flow of the intro/verse is Clash, with J.Mascus playing guitar.

Depressing as hell lyrics.

if you could give me 5 minutes and I'll illegally obtain the first 3 or so tracks cos it looks like the zip file's gonna take 20 minutes at least. is that ok?

Yeah, I'll just restart with ya. Take your time.

Leaves And Sand

Lilting acoustics give way to an avalanche of raging guitars. Loud/Quiet done to perfection.

Really depressing lyrics:

Greet the world with tired eyes
but something just ain’t right
head of dust and leaves and sand
creeping past your window
I can see the face of love and pain
behind your smile

always the same

rub my eyes try and use my mind
dull jewel inactive fire
come to terms with things at hand
creeping past my window
swore you smelt self-loathing
feeling shame you raised your smile
