The Simon Wiesenthal Center -- an international human-rights organization dedicated to preserving the memory of the Holocaust and to fostering tolerance -- will honor U2's Bono with its Humanitarian Laureate Award at its annual dinner Nov. 18 in New York, Billboard Bulletin reports.
The dinner will be chaired by Universal Music Group chairman/CEO Doug Morris. Bono is being honored for "his keen sense of social justice and his tireless efforts on behalf of the underprivileged and disenfranchised of the world," according to a Simon Wiesenthal director.
U2's "The Best Of 1990-2000," featuring the new songs "The Hands That Built America" and "Electrical Storm," was released yesterday (Nov. 5).
