Sir Bob Geldof, famously the Organizer of LiveAid and singer for the Boomtown Rats has started a petition to gather support for the imminent release of the LiveAid DVD featuring a groundbreaking and career-making perfomance of U2.
From Sir Bob Geldof's site:
"Ever since I started this site, I have on a regular basis received emails regarding Live aid, with a variety of questions- Will it happen again?, Where can I get a copy of it?, Will it be released on video or DVD?. Well, it has been hard to answer these questions, in particular "will it ever be released on video or DVD", simply because I just do not know why it is not available. I can only assume that there is some kind of copyright that has stopped it from being released. So I figure that if enough people asked for it to be released then just maybe it will happen. The benefits of releasing it will be huge! It will surely raise equally as much money as what was raised with the original concerts-Hundreds of millions of dollars, and benefit millions of people that are less fortunate.
So sign the petition! Simply fill in the form with your name and country and click submit. This will then shortly appear on this page. Meanwhile, I will be busy lobbying various news and music stations to find out why it is not available and if it will be released. Your support is much appreciated.
LATEST INFO: I have emailed several radio and TV stations including the BBC , MTV and my local stations in Canada: Rock 101, & 100.3 the Q, but no one has come back with any sort of reply! I shall keep trying as many other stations as I can. It would be of great help if everyone else joined in and sent emails to the following addresses as well as their own radio and TV stations- WE ALL WANT THIS TO HAPPEN, IT CAN HAPPEN, SO LETS MAKE IT HAPPEN!!!!
