U2 Could Have Hair Like Mine
U2 star Bono has had a hair transplant, according to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.
The Irishman has been hiding a thinning patch with implants, the young singer claimed.
But a spokeswoman for Bono denied the suggestion and said it was all his own hair.
"Ha, ha, ha, what a load of nonsense," she said.
Hair worries
Martin, who has been worried about his own dwindling follicles, said: "I'm 25 and I'm really worried I'll be bald by next year.
"But someone famous, someone who knows, told me Bono's had a hair transplant.
"Can you believe it? Bono? Some of those tufts have been stitched in. So there's hope for me yet," Martin told Q magazine.
Bono was noted for a mullet hairdo in the early days of the band, but has sported a variety of styles since.
He has dyed his hair black for much of his life.
Close-cropped
But he reverted to his own natural red colour in the mid Nineties when he favoured a close-cropped style.
He has since gone back to the dark look.
Sir Elton John is among the famous scalps who have had hair transplants in the past, as did Frank Sinatra.
Cricketer Graham Gooch has also undergone the treatment.
