Peace Songs Reveals Track List
By: ChartAttack.com Staff

We?ve already told you all about the new Peace Songs compilation that will be coming out later this month. Now, the organizers of the album have finally released the tracklisting for the double-disc set.

While the album was originally set to come out on April 15, the release date has been pushed back a couple of days to April 17. The proceeds from the album will go to War Child Canada, an organization that helps children whose lives have been affected by the devastation of war. A companion compilation will also be released in the U.K.

The Canadian release will include 31 tracks in all, by both British and Canadian artists. Previously mentioned tracks include Avril Lavigne?s take on Bob Dylan?s "Knockin? On Heaven?s Door" (yes, we can also hardly wait to hear it), Our Lady Peace?s cover of John Lennon?s "Imagine" and Yusuf Islam?s (a.k.a. Cat Stevens) reworking of his classic "Peace Train." It?s now been revealed that the album will also feature Chantal Kreviazuk?s version of Bob Marley?s "Redemption Song," Jarvis Church?s rendition of U2?s "One" and David Usher?s cover of Manic Street Preachers "If You Tolerate This."

This should prove to be interesting...

It's supposed to be Canadian and British artists, thus Moby. David Bowie isn't Canadian either!

But I have to say, I saw Chantal Kreviazuk live last night, and she talked about the album and sang Redmption Song...oooooh, it was gorgeous. Her voice, especially live is so haunting. It was just amazing.

She also sang a song she wrote when visiting Iraq, and at the end she sang a few lines of One, and she kind of faded it out with "we hurt each other then we do it again...why do we do it again and again and again...."

It was gorgeous.

I'm willing to have A**** on it. Look at that line-up for goodness' sake! TOM MCRAE! BASEMENT JAXX! BETH ORTON! I'm excited already.

Crikey, and David Usher doing 'If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next'. How feckin' cool is that?

And on the streets tonight
An old man plays
With newspaper cuttings
Of his glory days....
