Make it a Beautiful Day in Africa! Help Build a Well for Bono?s Birthday!
The African Well Fund will be collecting donations throughout the month of April to honor Bono's May 10th birthday. Last year, our efforts netted over $10,000. This year our goal is $15,000.
(PRWEB) March 29, 2004--The African Well Fund is pleased to announce our 2nd annual fundraising drive to ?Build a Well for Bono?s Birthday?. Bono?s birthday is May 10th. Throughout the month of April, we invite U2 fans to honor and acknowledge Bono?s activism on behalf of Africa by donating to the African Well Fund.
Last year?s fundraiser was a tremendous success. The U2 fan community responded generously to our call for donations and over $10,000 was raised. The money was used by our partner Africare, to fund the building of 14 wells in Uganda. To read the full report of the well-building project, please visit our website www.africanwellfund.org.
Based on the amazing response we received last year, we have set this year?s goal at $15,000. Incredibly, last year?s amount was contributed by approximately 300 donors, a relatively small number when considering the size of the U2 fan base. Once again, we will send Bono an acknowledgement of the funds raised in his honor as well as post birthday messages collected on our website. This year, the money raised will be used for well projects in the country of Ethiopia. Africare has informed us of the present critical need there. 100% of your donation goes directly to Africare?s village water supply program.
