Golden Globe win for U2

U2 have won a Golden Globe award for the song 'The Hands That Built America' from the film 'Gangs of New York'.

Frontman Bono told reporters backstage, "This was a real, real thrill for us."

He also paid tribute to the film's director Martin Scorsese, joking that, as an Irishman, he was annoyed that it had taken an Italian to make the story of the Irish immigrants who settled in New York.

Other winners at the awards ceremony last night were the films 'Chicago' and 'The Hours'.

Acting honours went to Nicole Kidman, Jack Nicholson, Renee Zellwegger and Richard Gere.

The Golden Globes are seen as an indicator for the Oscars to be held in March.
