Wait! Crud! That's not how the song goes...

*walks in* *ahem* So hello! I am actually meaning to post a discussion this time! Ok..moving on...so i was listening to HMeTmeKmeKme on the Best of album i just got...and i was just dancing around with my headphones on...and suddenly i hear "You're a big smash....you wear it like mesh" and i'm thinking..ok thats a bit odd... but then i think.."well i guess that could make sense ..i think bono likes mesh shirts..like in the ES video"..and that was that. -later that day- searching around for lyrics, for an away message...and i promptly fall of my chair at my insane stupidity . Its not...uh...mesh...its..RASH! you wear it like a rash! Although on second consideration there are probably many to be found in here that would PREFER the mesh line, but oh well. Has this ever happened to you guys? Messing up the lyrics? Or a friend of yours? I found some of these ones on this http://www.amiright.com website.

"Desire"
Over to Canada with a shotgun

"Mysterious Ways"
Shamu the mysterious whale

"WTSHNN"
See the toaster disappear without a trace

"Wild Honey"
Edge is blowing in the breeze, wild honey

"Elevation"
Cyanide in the sky,
it makes me feel like I might die

Do you guys know any more?

You are not alone! I also mess up the lyrics! Especially when I started to become a fan... I made my own version of all the songs thinking I was absolutely right and then got disappointed when I found out that wasn't was Bono was saying! I can't think of any right now, but believe me, I do it veeery often!

These are great!

There was actually one time when I also heard that Wild Honey thing.

Mine would be:

I still haven't found... "I have climbed..."
I heard "Achill yeah"

BD: "sky falls"
my version "sky folds"

Elevation: "educate my mind"
me: "intrigate my mind"

One: "to drag the past out into the light"
me: "to drag the passed out into the light"

that toaster one?

the one from "wild honey" ...i don't have anything to say that the smily face isn't saying...

i know i've done that on so many occasions that i'ts probably quite sad...i tend to sing along with ANY song provided i know the melody...
there are a lot of songs on "pop" that i *think* i know the words to, but instead of singing wrong words, i don't think i sasy any real words at all...kind of like the pogues song "turkish song of the damned" (anyone know that song?)--i have no clue what the chorus is, but i still sing along with the cd

My sis is terrible for lyrics.

The best one: she was wholeheartedly singing along to BTBS... but instead of "I can see those fighter planes" she said "I can see those spider veins" .

! Spider veins!

Like I said once, my s/n on here comes from messing up a lyric to a song:

"Angel Of Harlem":

Real lyric: Blue light on the avenue
My version: Moonlight on the avenue

I remember what I thought they were saying seemed like such a romantic line...then I found the lyrics and saw what the actual line was...eh. Still romantic. . I kinda prefer my version of that line, but, oh, well. Doesn't make the song any less great for me.

And then there's that whole debate people were having on here as to whether or not Bono is saying "heavy as a truck" or "heavy as a drug" in "Electrical Storm" that I remember from these boards.

@ this thread!

A couple from Ultraviolet...

Real lyric: Sometimes I feel like I don't know, sometimes I feel like checking out.
My Version: Sometimes I feel like I don't know, sometimes I feel I chicken out (I KNOW what it is now and still I screw it up!)

Well, there's some debate I've heard about the sort of background part. It could be "Ultra-vi-o-let," or "Ultraviolet Light" (I've always thought it was the first one), but my mom sometimes sings, "Won't you light my way."

If I think of more I'll be back...

Shadows And Tall Trees

Back to the cold restless streets at night
I sang:

Gone
original:
You're taking steps that make you feel dizzy
I sang:
The ticket stubs that make you feel dizzy

In a Little While
original:
Oh, when I saw her
In a pram they pushed her by

I sang:
Let us all hope,
In the brand they pushed to buy

Wild Honey
original:
Love me
Give me soul

I sang:
Blow me
Pimp me so

o_O I knew that last one sounded a bit odd at first
