That's not a real excuse. There are many people in the list who have been on TIME covers in recent years and also some who have been voted "Peron of the year". I don't see why they didn't include Bono at all, it's a shame. It's like he disappeared suddenly or stopped doing his work, which we all know he didn't. Pardon the sarcasm in the headline, but what did Bono do in the last year to lose his spot on the TIME 100 list of the most influential people in the world? He's been on the list twice, but not this time. All that humanitarian stuff just wasn't enough to beat out John Mayer, who makes the list because he's sincere.
No matter, Bono did finish 10th in the popular voting. Nevermind that Sanjaya Malakar finished 3rd.... check out the Time 100 :
