U2 license cloning
In a news conference today a leading genetic scientist revealed the discovery of the enzyme that allows a human cell to be cloned and never grow old. Linked by a satellite hookup to another press conference in Dublin, the band U2 revealed their plans to be the first band of the 21st century to license cloning of it's band members for their fans.
The Edge, lead guitarist, remarked "I don't have any problem with cloning as long as the fans are not ripped off." Asked about the bands reported 50 clones of each member drummer Larry Mullen responded "Yea, it seems a bit much, but I just wanted one of me in each of the worlds largest cities so people can see for themselves that drummers are the coolest members of any band".
Adam Clayton, told the press assembled in the gallery "Everyone wanted to see Sparky this time around and we didn't get the chance to play as many shows as we wanted. I just want to give back something to my fans".
Bono, U2's lead singer, responding to accusations of selling out, responded "I think 50 Bono's will be more than the world can handle, but what the hell, with our new double live album "Mexiclone Mofo" due out shortly this will be a great tie in. I can be at 50 of the biggest record stores signing autographs and greeting U2 fans".
Asked how fans will be able to tell the real thing, Bono replied "Maybe knowing which one of me is the real one isn't important. In all likelihood one of my clones will have a better voice and he'll try and steal the limelight. Maybe then I can take a much needed years vacation while the clone tours".
