Stupid/Funny Questions Your Friends Ask You About U2...

I was thinking about this the other day...If you're like me, you're surrounded by friends who really couldn't care less about U2......Anyway, friends and acquaintances have asked me some really bizarre questions about the band over the years...Here are a few of those...

Hey, Jen, what's the difference between Sonny Bono and Bono?

Um....They're not the same person!!!

Is this U2?

Asked whenever I'm listening to ANYTHING (and I mean anything) on my stereo!

I really like Sublime's cover of Sunday Bloody Sunday better than the original.

Not really a question, but funny just the same, because, to my knowledge, there is no Sublime recording of SBS...Edge's live solo performance of it is often mislabeled on file-sharing sites.

Have U2 been around for awhile then?

Asked most recently when ATYCLB came out...Can you believe some people actually thought it was their first album?!!!

...That's all I can think of at the moment, but I know there has to be more!

Along the lines of the Sublime thing...I've gotten what do you think of the Pumpkins version of SBS....again Edge's version just mislabeled.

People that think JT was their first album, and New Year's Day, Pride and SBS is on it.

Are Bone-O and Sonny Bono related?

My mum is always asking that. I was listening to Garbage last day when she came into my room and ask "Is this U2? What's up with Bono's voice?"

And another question a friend asked me: "Who do you love the most: Bono or you mum?"

My mom asked me about October (the song) once, and I told her that it was from 1981.
Her: Oh, I thought they were a new group.
Me: No mom, they've been together since like 1976.
Mom: Oh, is that why they look older?
Me: Because some of them have children almost my age? Yeah mom.

One of my co-workers once asked me what kind of music I like and who my favorite group is. I told her U2. She asked "Who are they?" Can you believe it? I guess I have to cut her a little slack, since she is not at all into current music - she loves Motown and golden oldies. But still, you would think someone would have to have been living under a rock for the past 15 years or so not to even know who U2 are!

This reminds me of one time at school shortly after Detroit Popmart...I was wearing my black popmart shirt and the guy sitting across the table from me asked, "Who are those guys?" and I said, "U2." And he was like, "Oh, yeah...Don't they have an album called The Joshua Tree or something?" I then proceeded to educate him about the more "current" U2!
