Rock n' Roll Doggie FOB
yeah, it was tres cool!!!!

it was after the show, and after waiting all day to see them drive by (security pl at the Thomas & Mack were SOOO mean) I had succumbed and eventually accepted the fact that I would not meet them, even though I had bought seats (the ONLY advantage, and not a very good one. never again!) But I had accepted it and moved on. .... but after the show I figured what the heck, maybe I'll just go say goodbye to my favorite red trucks..... and there are their cars!!!!
So I RUN to the side of the ramp (on top of which is a 6ft tall fence) and realize they have NOT come out yet. Suddenly people start cheering and I see an unmistakable beanie!!! Edge waves and smiles and gets into his car.
Then came Bono. Mystery man, dressed in that white button down shirt w/ ruffles a-la Mysterious Ways video and a black leather jacket and just beautiful and I nearly didn't believe what was happening right in front of my eyes!! He walks to someone who had been inside the building and gave him a big bear hug, then John escorts him to the car, and everyone is cheering and waving and applauding and Bono is smiling and he goes to get in the car, then stops and comes around the front of the car. I am standing DIRECTLY there, on the other side of the ramp/fence, of course.
He is walking right to me and I said "Bono! Peace, Bono!" and I realize that sounds corny but I didn't want to panic or make him nervous so I stared him right in the eye and smiled and sort of nodded at him so he wouldn't think I was an aggressive whatever, I don't know, who can really explain thoughts that go into or out of our heads at those moments. So anyway he comes right up to me and I have this book i've been dying to give him, and I slid it under the fence and on top of the ramp (at about chest level) and I say like 4 times "Bono, this is for you" like a kindergardener not wanting to forget her lines! and he takes the book and says "wow, oh wow, thank you" and turns it right side up so he can read the title and I wanted to say so much more (not like I had a script planned or anything..... *ahem*) but he looked at me with his eyes and I swear I heard angels singing!!! there were many people around cheering and calling for him and I didn't want to talk b/c there was too much going on, so I just smiled blissfully at him, and he was beautiful.
A girl to my left got his attention and snaked her hand under the fence and I think they shoook hands and suddenly I realized *I* wanted to touch him (ok and since I would have to check myself directly into a mental institution if I said that aloud to him) I just put my hand under the fence and proceeded to scratch myself up and had to retract! lol... anyway he walked to my right next and signed an autograph for someone and was laughing with them, I did not catch the exchange at all. Then John said they had to go so Bono waved and said thank you and smiled and was really looking around in this opened eyed awe at everyone. It was beautiful. No one was obnoxious or crass or offensive- just thanking him and cheering for him, it was wonderful!!
Then he gets in his car and waves and they take off. Larry or Edge was next, either way neither of them rolled down their window where I was (Larry supposedly did around the corner) then Adam's car pulled right up in front of me and his window was down and he was smiling and nodding at everyone and no one- a great trick to make it seem they are looking at everyone at once! Someone said "Adam you rock" and everyone was just cheering for him and he was nodding and smiling graciously.
It was realllly great and I can't tell you how excited I am, how not believing that it really happened!!!! I did have a camera w/ me and took some pictures and in my whole life I've never ever lost a roll of film, but this one has mysteriously disappeared. I dont know what happened to it and i'm upset BUT that image of Bono's beautiful blue eyes staring into mine, all happy and smiley, will NEVER fade away!!
BTW- Vegas was great fun, so nice to finally meet so many people!! I have some pics but they're not terrific so I'm not rushing them up or anything. Anyway big hi to everyone I met and if I find that film, you'll all be the first to know!!
